Are the Drengin really this tricky all the time?

Seems like they never bother to research weapons theory but trade for phasers/photons and off they go. No need to ever get weapons theory if someone else does the legwork for you.

So far they've done this in every game I've played. tricky bastards.

Could still be using older data.

Initial alpha and betas did not have a weapons theory technology, and when it was first added we noticed that all the AI's were ignoring it, but still researching the next technologies as if they has weapons theory. Turned out they were still using the old AI data for technology lists.

No, they will do weapons theory now but first they'll see if someone else has it to leech off of.

Ah... so they are this tricky. Nevermind my bug report thingy. I *have* noticed that trading to acquire the initial techs from teh AI costs an inordinate amount of $$, is this intentional?
