Homeworld Music

So anyway, I remember fondly the music from Homeworld portraying the sense of expansiveness, isolation, and foreboding of space, so I downloaded the Homeworld music files from here: http://www.atomicgamer.com/directory.php?id=2457 , which the Relic Forums say is legal and legit, in order to give that same lonely spacey feel to Sins. I'm wondering if there is a way to replace the Sins music with these MP3 files.

I know the general topic of changing the music has come up in other threads. I tried putting the Homeworld music on a playlist and running that separately, but it just wasn't the same. The Homeworld music got its power from the pregnant pauses between the songs, and also sounded better when it arose from an event, with different pieces being more appropriate for different sorts of events.

Basically I'd like to try replacing Sins song files with Homeworld ones, or maybe something similar, like that far off middle easterny techno-mood sound if anyone has any recommendations.

Could you kindly put the files into a big zip file and host it somewhere (such as rapidshare) so I don't have to download every file separately? If you could that would be a HUGE help!

If you ask me very very nicely, I'll do it, and host it on Total Gaming Files. ;)

This is just what I've been looking for. I love movie soundtracks, and I'd like to replace a few of the native SoaSE music files (which are great also) with some good movie soundtrack cues. Examples of stuff that would go great with Sins are the soundtracks to Transformers, Crimson Tide, and Wrath of Khan among others.

You acn download (via bittorrent) all of the Homeworld soundtracks from the Relic trackers here: http://hwcommunity.com/tracker/

Sweet. That makes my life a lot easier. Thanks jdhas.

I'm going to download this, and convert all of the files into .ogg's then upload them to Total Gaming Files.

It's probably better and more fun if you edit your own playlist to your liking, however I'd thought I'd share what has worked for me in integrating Homeworld tracks into the game. The goal here is to recreate HW's ambience, while still leaving some of Sins musical character intact. Above posts have links where you can download Homeworld music, and post #2 has a link to the tools you will need (mainly the OGG converter) to make this happen.

Here's the general strategy: songs are organized into several series in the sound file in your main Sins folder. The series are: Advent, Battle, Quiet, Sad, TEC, Trouble, Upbeat, Vasari, and

Maybe it's just me who's picky... I haven't watched TV in years and I go to more operas than movies.

Nah, you've got good taste.

I made the updates minus the faction-specific music and even compressed the .ogg files into a nice .rar so you can easily switch out your current Sins' music with the Homeworld 1 soundtrack. Thank you so much Fearzone for offering good suggestions! Here's the link to the set:

homeworld_set.rar

Download and uncompress into your Sins/Sounds/ folder. Make sure to back up the folder first in case you're not happy with the results or something just goes terribly wrong!

can't download the .rar.

What .zip are you talking about?

I can't download the rar file either, but would really like to try it :-/

oh, zuffdaddy, if you want I can host the file on my own domain if that helps.
(unless there are serious legal issues with it).

zuffdaddy and souleeter, is there any possibility of updated links? I loved the Homeworld music and these substitutions sound great, but zuff's link is broken. Thanks in advance!
