Max Amount of Capital Ships.?

Is there a Max Amount? My initial glance tells me that 16 is the most.

That being said. A Large scale game would seem to become nothing but a zerg fest if 16 capital ships is the most you can have.

100 planets. 16 capital ships?? get the picture.

yes 16 is the max in default game but as with everything else this can be modded once the tools are released, although i feel 16 is enough it makes you have to use support cruiser and frigs other wise if you had an unlimited amount of capital ships it will just throw balance out the window and make the other vessels pretty much useless IMO

Capital Ships in Sins strike me as being very much like 'heroes' in many other strategy games - they're very powerful units that can swing the tide of a battle, but you don't have many of them, so you need to use them wisely. They're not intended to be 'rank and file' units that you use everywhere.

Scaling the amount of capital ships to the Population Cap would not throw the game out of balance.

I am not asking for unlimited amount, just a appropriate amount of ships per the size of ones empire. that would make sense. not sure why this wasn't incorporated.

I mean common how much difference are they going to make in a massive scale battle.

300 zergs vs 10 zergs and 5 capital ships. hmmmm

ok sure..

300 zergs vs 300 zergs and 5 capital ships. makes a difference.

but maybe you get the picture.

My first games i played i used a bunch of caps and i got destroyed.

The AI just destroyed my fleet with a bumch of little ships that could concentrate there fire and take out my caps 1 at a time.

Your going to want a mixed fleet and caps for there special powers.

Exactly what I mean. Zerg fest.

Everyone keeps talking about strategy. But in large scale battles so far I have found that zerg rushing is very powerful.

setting up a standard mix of zergs and support units and RUSH!..

I really haven't found the use for micro managing units. battle strategy. HUGH????

I guess after play Company of heroes were your action ON the battle field makes all the difference this comes across as a snow ball fight.

The converse of that is the empire management. Maybe I am ADD or something but I could/would love both.

Just wanted to bump this issue.

Last night I took 300 zerg ships against 10 capitals + 50 zergs.

all one has to do is concentrate fire of all the zergs on the next ship. Capitals died in about 10 seconds each.

GUESS WHO ONE>??

The balance just gets so thrown off when the scale is huge. I don't even build capital ships anymore.
