the planets

do differnet planets do things better than other planets. Like does a desert planet produce more credits than ice planets and ice planets produce more crystal or what? and are asteriods not as good as planets? or are they the same.

also i dont totally understnad why there has to be gas giants that arent colonizable and stuff. Like whats the point of having them?

there are some differences in the planets..the desert planet has more logistics space so you can put more buildings in orbit. The Ice planet is invaluable because they have 3 crystal asteroids orbiting it. The normal planet has a high population cap so you can just rake in the tax credits. The volcano planets have bonus points towards your fleet capacity.

Neutral systems -- they aren't owned by any player, so they form natural "neutral" battlegrounds.
