Morale Choice Oddities

Just a comment that it seems some of the morale choices aren't calibrated properly. For example, there's the discovery of a mine with 'rich' minerals but sending in your guys will cause some certain death.

The bonus for going in (and turning more evil)? -- 15 b.c.!

LOL! A cup of Yorian tea goes for about 8 b.c. on the open market... LOL

Seriously, these Morale choice things have the potential to be truly interesting and relevant to the game, but many times there's no real compelling reason to go one way or the other besides trying to chance your civ's morality. Yes, this is the primary point, I understand, but when the decisions hinge on making 15 b.c. to kill you men or not, it loses some of its impact.

I think 1000 b.c. is closer to the mark, don't you guys? Or if the choice comes later in the game, something like 3000 b.c.?

I've noticed that the numbers for those kind of choices change each time I encounter them. I think I've seen that mining one be several hundred bcs.

Yup they change each time. I have seen the one about mining some Lava place offer as little as 50bc, and as much as 2000bc.

I have also seen the evil options giving the same bonus as the neutral ones.

Ah, interesting. A bit odd at times, but interesting. Thanks for the info.

Also I, as far as I know, the more profitable it is to choose an evil option the more impact it has on your morality even if its the same event.

I had an event pop up saying if I want to increase my planet quality by 20% at the expense of some life forms or smth...Well, before I made my choice I was on 56 evil/good rating. I chose the evil option thinking it wont do much damage and my rating fell to 42 (and thats a big jump)

We had a thread about this a while back, and if I remember correctly Brad made a statement stating something like being evil is easy with instant bonuses, but being good is a challenge with long term benefits. I mean who really wants to choose -25% production because you have to live on the ice caps....
