Latest DA patch

Can someone tell me if the latest patch for DA is "all fixed", I'm till playing on 1.61 and wanted to get the 1.8's. But there was a lot of talk of bugs and not enough planets etc. So i waited.

Since i haven't seen much talk about it these days with all the TA beta posts, I was wondering if I should update now. I'm looking forward to seeing anomolies later in the game.

One more thing, where was that post that listed to changes to the gae in 1.8?

Thanks.

Not too sure what the problem was with the "not enough planets". Perhaps that was in the largest maps and it was a memory-cap thing? I'm drawing a blank here...I play Medium maps too often and have been TAing it ever since the first beta.

As for anomalies. After the first big galactic war, you'll be the only one picking up anomalies. The AI doesn't seem to make ships with that module at all, leaving you the sole surveyor once their flagships get shot down.

DA 1.8g works great. Haven't had any notable problems. Habitable planet counts are slightly lower than 1.61. I'm getting a little over 700 total habitables for gig/abun. 1.61 would yield around 900. Also, PQ has been shifted a little. For example, purple star planets are more common, but have lower quality. And it *is* nice running those auto surveys the entire game.

The "not enough" planets was a bug in the 1.7 beta. It was fixed in the very next patch. 1.8 was released with several bugs but these were fixed in versions 1.8b through 1.8g. I only noticed 1 bug in 1.8g but I haven't replayed far enough in the game to reproduce it.

I played a game where when I was at war with the Drengin they suddenly signed a peace treaty with me without even asking me. I noticed it when I told a fleet to attack a Drengin fleet and the game warned me that this would be an act of war. I called off the attack and ended the turn and then got a message that the Terran Alliance(me) has made peace with the Drengin Empire. I had an alliance with the Altarians who were also at war with the Drengin. They also made peace. I think it only happens when an ally makes peace with a mutual foe.

It is by no means a showstopper, just annoying.

Ok thanks, so is that movement bug i read about fixed too?

What happened to you could have just been a one time glitch maybe it had to do with your alliance.

Movement bug is gone. Im playing a game right now to see if I can reproduce the alliance bug.

I am back to playing DA 1.8g, and having a great time with it. There is still the game's recurring "memory limit" issue, but this is not the game's fault as such but WinXP+computer+game combination issue. [I like playing gigantic + common everything + maximum civilizations (minors included) because I don't mind a game taking weeks of real-time to play.] I have auto-save turned on at the start, to save every three turns; it doesn't take too long to save. Then, at the first auto-save crash, I turn off auto-save and go to manually saving the game each turn after I do planet maintenance, etc., and before I hit the "turn" button for the AIs to cycle through. The tiny extra effort to manually save is no big deal to me.

Because I went through the time to construct a custom race with custom ships, etc. I am waiting for TA to allow custom races. I've played quick TA games to get a feel for it and will switch when I can implement my custom settings.
