Star Trek Mod?

I do believe there is at least one thread on that subject... along with B5 mods, BSG mods, Star Wars Mods, and probably a few more besides.

We should just compile everything into one giant mod thread

Ahhhh.... No. It is a completely unrealistic idea to say the least. The different franchises have vastly different ships, lore and tech as well as fan bases. So it is simply not even a remotely feasible idea and it would only serve as a detriment to any project getting started.

To answer the OP yes, there is a trek mod being worked on. I wont be based on Enterprise though. Most older fans (like me) dont count ENT as trek

Why is that?

What about Voyager or Deep Space 9?

Nope (Personally, I liked both of those! I really don't get what most trek fans have against voyager, though DS9 they have a mild point)

I been a Trekie for about 30 years and I like Voyager. W00t! Can we say BorgBabe!! Ah... Jerri can assimilate me anytime.

Anyway, I also like DS9 (due to its B5 nature) even if it is somewhat out of line with the classical StarFleet. The wormhole aliens and the whole messiah thing was a big huge FUBAR. For Voyager I guess people always figured that the Q could have returned them at anytime so why not?

Because Q... is Q. He's annoying, he's rarely helpful, and for the most part they wish he'd just stay out of their lives. (He's been "helpful" all of once that I recall -- when he helped Picard "come to terms" with his heart implant.)

Ive been a fan of Star Trek since i 1st saw it back in 1971. Yes, I was 7 years old at the time, and i still remember watching it with my brothers on a little black and white TV. There were no movies, no TNG, no DS-9, or Voyager with the retarded dead in 1 hit borg, or Jerri "lets put miss silicon boobs in because this show sucks" Ryan, or ENT lets put miss silicon boobed T'pol in, because the trek writers cant think of anything new, or original that doesnt involve the way overused time travel plots. So this show sucks too.

There was just the original Trek with all the cheeze, and overacting that made it classic. That is the mod i am doing. Without the cheeze of course. I might toss in some overacting tho

The TOS trek mod will be a pioneer mod for myself, and digital underground to "test the waters" so to speak on the moddability of sins. To see what we can, and cant do with the engine. If the TOS mod is successful then Dig-U will switch over to the TNG era (dominion wars to be exact).

Dont ask when it will be ready you will just get "when its done" as a response

You have to forgive me. I'm only 17 and just recently arrived on the science fiction scene

But what was wrong with ENT? As a stand alone series I quite liked it. I found it better written then others like Surface, or Andromeda or even Dark Angel (YECH!!!!)

I'm asking politely to any star trek fan who dislike or even hate ENT. What is basically wrong with ENT? Was the storyline done before? Were there inconsistencies? what?

I liked it from an artistic viewpoint and loved it relative to the other offerings on TV at the time. The overall feel of the show, for me, anyhow came across as disingenuous at times. And the whole core plot concept was out there in my opinion. That may be because of the writers or even the effects I dont quite know. It simply did not have that Star Trek feel - old or new. It was like a spin off series for me and not a prequel in my mind.

Enterprise was bad for many reasons. Mainly for bad writing, and stale cardboard cutout acting. Most of the episodes seemed half assed. As in nobody had any motivation, or didnt give a damn if it came out good, or not. In contrast The original series actors especially Shatner way overacted, because they wanted the series to be a success. Plus Berman, and Bragas complete disregard of the shows that came before ENT. So there were MANY inconsistencies. They were trying to make ENT into a reboot of Star Trek without telling anyone. The "killer B's" as berman, and braga became known as said if they had their way the Original Series would never have existed. That sent old school fans into an uproar. If it wasnt for the original they wouldnt have had a job.

They AGAIN excessively overused time travel plots like they did with Voyager with the "temporal cold war" thing. The Xindi wars were a farce. With the kiler B's time travel, and technobabble save the day. The only credit i give is in the 4th season when Manny Coto tried to salvage the series, and make it somewhat consistent with the rest of Trek. The 4th season episodes are the best of the series IMO Especially "mirror darkly". If Manny hadnt come into the picture ENT would have only lasted 3 seasons, and it went out with a whimper. The last episode of ENT is typical killer b material :/

Artistically Enterprise was ok. The NX was a ripoff of the TNG akira class, but it was stil a nice ship. Other than that i liked most of the ENT ship designs.

There is going to be the 1701 in my mod.. no bloody A,B,C,D, or E If sins is as moddable as i think it is there could be many possibilities for trek mods.

How the TOS mod turns out may depend on Star Trek XI since that movie is set in the TOS era. If the movie is good ill have more reference material. If it is bad..like nemesis bad, ill just ignore it like it never existed.

I did feel that ENT was the strongest in its fourth season (although I'm not familiar with Star Trek at all so I went along with the entire series).

Reboots seem to be very common now these days, and probably due to the success of the James Bond series (Casino Royale), Batman (Batman begins) and BattleStar Galactica.

The next movie is going to be simply called "Star Trek". What we know about it so far is that it is set in the Original Series era. It chronicles the 1st mission of Kirk, and Spock (new actors will portray young kirk, and spock, and the rest of the original series crew). Leonard Nimoy is making a cameo as a much older Spock as well. There is much speculation that this movie is going to be a "re-imagination" of the original series. Like the new battlestar was. The director JJ Abrams is downplaying that. The film is supposedly to be released in 08.

Right now the only races im sure of that will be in the mod are the Fed's, Klingons, and Romulans. Orion pirates will prolly fill the pir8 role, but that is still up in the air. Much of the ships, and specs i will probably use Starfleet Battles, and FASA as a guide (old 80's board games) While not exactly canon, the SFB specs are balanced. The mod is still pretty much in the "planning" stage. While i managed to import 1 ship, it has mesh problems from conversion. Im holding off on going full steam on the mod until the game is released, and i have the forge tools.

Some people need to practice their Google-fu. Just try "Star Trek XI".

I hope it will not end up like the Star Wars ones....

Mirror darkly, and "Trials, and Tribulations" (DS-9) along with "some" of the re-mastered series is the look i am aiming for No cheezy green blobs for ships, or badly done special effects.

A re-imagination can be a good thing.. It was for Galactica. Im all for it as long as they do a good job.
