First Civ

I'm getting TA next week. So I want you guys to help me. Tell me what civ you think I shuold play as first. Also include why or why not. Just in case you might need this info to help me, I play a very slow game, building up my economy and research the best I can. I also focus on production, but less so than research and economy. I usually bribe other civs to attack the superpowers or the threats beside me. This way I can build myself up. Then, once i am ready, I unleashe a blitz, taking advantage of my superior resaearch and economy to build awsome ships.

First off, let me tell you that next week when you get TA, it'll still be in beta testing. Not all races will be implemented, or still very rough if it's their first week. Thalans and Alterans still aren't in the game.

Second off, Drath may be your cup of tea due to their super ability helps them set others to war. This would be the same as back in DA though. The races in TA have gotten tweaks, but for the most part, each race's flavor hasn't changed too much since DA. The Krynn got a bit more influence oriented other than...um...whatever they were oriented towards before lol.

Play them all or you will be missing out on alot of the diversity in the game.

Also the game has gotten a good deal more complex, so you should play each civ at least once so that you can better understand the strengths and weaknesses of their particular tech tree.

To start out, I'd go Terran or Arcean. The Terrans have a very complete tech tree with some great fleet boosters and propulsion techs. The Arceans have only one minor hole in their tech tree (ship propulsion) with some incredible new ship hp, defensive and soldiering techs.
