Sector Ownership?

What is the threshold in influence for a sector changing to your empire's color? I'm 22 years into the game, and I have yet to see a sector on the entire map be any color other than black... and yes, I do have the button on the map pressed.

I have 68% of a cultural victory... and I have like 1.2k influence in Sol's sector... three stars with multiple colonies each and no enemies... but still the sector is not owned by me...

What gives? Is there some tech I have to research?

You have a bug IF you have the sector color filter ON for the mini-map...

Try zooming in the mini map toward your main planet. Sometimes the blue used for the player's colour doesn't show up well when zoomed out.

Then try hitting the colour button again. It acts as an on/off switch.

Works OK here.

Oh yeah... if I zoom in, and flick the switch a few times, I can see a *slight* change in color... is there any way to make it a little more, uhm... noticeable? To me it looks like the blackness of space with a slight blue tint...

The gameplay examples seemed to show a much brighter display...

That particular shade of Dark blue doesn't have much contrast next to black. But once you have enough of them and zoom in (even once) it is noticible.

The good thing is that it is the only colour used on the map that is like that.

Enough people have made this "complaint" that maybe they will change it in a patch. Just need to lighten it a bit.

I dunno... the game I was refering to in the original post was on a large galaxy... and you couldn't see any empire colors at that zoom level. If you zoom in, other empire's color's *are* semi-visible... but even the colors that are visible, aren't really all that distinct vs. other empires. And I don't like my empire being "negative space"...

It seems to me that this is a common issue with their contrast...

1. I want to be able to be at full zoom out, see at a glance what empire controls which sector. Maybe if they swapped the colors for population/production with the colors for sector control? Does anybody know of a way I could do this myself?

For some reason it really bothers me... I guess maybe I feel I don't get enough feedback on my progress towards glactic dominance, if my empire color isn't visible.

2. Fog of war vs. currently visible space is entirely too subtle of a difference. I want to see that at a glance too... not have to examine each sector and see if it is in sensor range. Maybe have an option of displaying your current sensor range on the galactic map?

This is a little more practical, as I'd like to know where there are holes in my sensor grid. I'd be more apt to use sensor drones as a picket if I knew easily how far they can see vs. my planets.

3. Maybe I'm alone here, but I'd also like to see a larger differentiation between yellow/regular stars on the glactic map once you learn Stellar Cartography. It's not really that bad... but... why not actually make them *yellow* or something? White vs. Grey is not particulary striking either.

Minor points I suppose... certainly not game breakers... I enjoy the game quite a bit... but I just feel the galactic map should be a little bit more informative and useful.
