Game crashes while saving

Hello again.
Wow, I don't think I will ever get this game to work correctly. I have it in late game, just me and two other major civilizations remaining. Now, however, everytime I manually save, or the autosave kicks in, the game crashes. It freezes with the bottom of the screen bar saying saving, and then after a while it crashes to an all black desktop, that simply says, 'Out of Memory' Which is not true, as the HDD has 97 gigs free, and I have 2 gigs of RAM. This is Windows Vista Home, English version of the game, Nvidia Geforce Go 7600 card, with the driver recently updated. Game was also updated last week. This has happened the last three times I played and tried to save, or autosave. I thought, during one of those occurences, that I saw a message about visual memory, but I was not certain, and it only happened once. Any help would be appreciated.
