Solar System Protection

Hi folks.

Will it be possible to implement some kind of solar system protection?

I mean after conquering all the planets on a given system it will be nice if one could place some kind of weapons or base at the entry point of a solar system (aka the son for that system). I know we can leave some ships there that will act as an early warning system but they do take fleet slots and could be of better use in real battles.

Take the fight to the enemy... you won't have to worry about protecting your sun if you control their suns

Oh I'm doing that, but they always seem to sneak from another planet not currently on my control from that next system. hehehe

I don't know whether or not you can build structures around the sun so just park a fleet of ships there and have them glare at approaching bad guys.

Personally, I generally just stick a couple of carrier squadrons (with a sova "flagship" on my star and call it controlled. Drop some Kodiaks at the inbound entry point (supported by some flak, robotics, and command cruisers) and the enemy really gets the point. And its also a great way to train any capships you happen to construct -- if you have marauders on, the carriers are constantly killing stuff, so the enemy is gonna get hurt, constantly, which means nice XP for you. Just remember to set the "WP guard" groups and the "carrier guard" sovas (and any support ships you give the sova) to "local area" so they don't hare off all over the place... and end up out of place just when you need them in place
