When I attempt to update the game, the collectors edition is something that is unhelpful to me if I attempt download it right? Seeing as I didn't buy the collectors edition in the store. What happens if I enter my serial number but click on a Collectors edition links for all thire various content?

All the collectors edition content is in the later updates. Just patch the game through SDC and you'll have it.
