thinking of buying, How good is GalCiv?

Im thinking of getting GalCiv after the fiasco that was MOO3. I know its a very different game from moo3, so im gonna try to not compare it. Anyway, how good is GalCiv? I have heard its pretty fun, and has a LOT more "sole" and prettyness than Moo3. I don't think I like only being able to play as the humans, but I can get over that. One thing I think I might not like is no ship design and tactical combat, but if the game is anything like Civ3 then I think I will like it (I love Civ3). Even without those things, how fun is GalCiv?

This is the first TBS game that I have been genuinely excited about since Alpha Centauri.

Well, truthfully, I was excited by MOO3 until I actually "played" it.

I downloaded it when available and then played for straight 12 hours a few hours sleep then i (to my shame) called in sick and have now played another ten hours...break now, must have some food:)

(disclaimer: i totally enjoy Civ and this game is vaguely "Civ in space" so its maybe therefore i enjoy GalCiv so much;)

From what I have read this game is more similar to Civ3 than moo3. is this true? if it is true then I think I will like the game since I absolutely LOVE civ3.

ah, i reread your question: as you love CivIII, i can guarantee to 99% that you will love GalCiv too;)

If you like Civ3, don't think, just buy GalCiv. Then be sure to remember to actually eat and sleep every once in a while. ;)

YAY, I know I will love it since its like civ3!! I think I will buy the game right now! so how/where can I do that? From what I understand, I can buy it online, they give me a code, then I download it. Is this correct?

(Has anyone else never reached modern technology in civ3 before time ran out?)

I love it. It's unlike any game I've ever played. The interface is intuitive, the detail is great without being overwhelming, and it's challenging. The AI actually anticipates your moves and there's no cheat path that guarantees victory every time you play. I've played three games and have yet to win and I can't put it down. I think that's the true testament to the game's playability; I love it even when I lose. Embarassingly. On tutorial level. LOL

No, I always do... Do you play the largest map?
By the way, I think thats how it works when you want to download the game. :)

I gave it a very favorable rating at Gamespot.com and at the SEIV forum. I like the game and think it is well worth the investment. :d
