OK I figured out how to change the flagship after wasting a couple hours looking for complex strings variables and what not I decided to do something really basic and it worked -go figure...

Anyway I change my flagship to a carrier by renaming the entity files for each as well as changing the name on the second line of the file.

Moreover all the players get the new flagship it does not change just for you.

I have not tested that purchase function yet but I will shortly...

UPDATE

The change only affects your Flagship. Once you build a capital ship dock when you click on the battleship or the carrier button that is what is produced.

I hope there will be a better way to do it later. Mabye adding somthing like this to the gameplay file:


flagshipTECH = "CAPITALSHIP_TECHBATTLESHIP"
flagshipPSI = "CAPITALSHIP_PSIBATTLESHIP"
flagshipPHASE = "CAPITALSHIP_PHASEBATTLESHIP"


Or even better, add a way for us to determine exactly what ships one starts with.

I hope so as well. I think this will be the case given that they have a "last flagship" option in the game setup.

Can someone clarify; if I just want to specify another Kol Battleship (not a cruiser, carrier, or dreadnought) to replace a lost flagship can I do that w/o a mod?

Also, other than in "last flagship standing" do the flagships differ from non-flagships of the same class? (e.g. level faster, more hp or sp, AOE buffs, etc)

You can replace a dead flagship at present. Regarding your question the flags only differ in that they start as a "king" with a few levels and are free other then that if you dont play last flagship then if you lose it the game wont end.

How? This might be a bug but my flag doesn't seem to automatically transfer to an existing Kol nor to a newly built one (i.e. built after losing my original flagship)

Flagship is the highest level cap you have. If you have two at the highest level you've got, than you'll have no flagship.
