Altarian Prophecy Beta 4

Please install and run SmartException from the free stuff tab in Stardock Central so that if the beta crashes, it will generate a report that you can send to me with your debug.err files and save games.

Please update the non-expansion part of Gal Civ if you haven't, but please note that your save games will be messed up because of the additional improvements.

I will want any save games that reproduce bugs, particularly crashes.  Save games in Altarian prophecy are only one file, no folders.

Please report typos in the typo thread.  String Not Found bugs are not typos.

Please give as much detail as possible when reporting bugs so that I can reproduce it more easily.

Had fun playing the first campaign scenario. :)However, although I succesfully completed it the pop up description just before metaverse submission said "Military Defeat" and only gave me 83 meta-points.

works fine here... even loaded and continued an earlier AP 1.49 save game successfully

I'm not sure why it thinks that it's a military defeat. Brad got that too, after we'd already put the build up.  We had that bug earlier in the development and I was sure that I'd fixed it, but maybe it's something that doesn't show up when I use my cheat keys to force a win.

Dave, I got your e-mail with the debug.err and it's definitely not finding your Gal Civ installation.  Check your e-mail for my reply. :)

You need to be a subscriber to Drengin package in order to d/load it.. as its a beta release.

the map editor hogs the cpu.. and makes the entire system extremly sluggish

I'm using an AMD 2400+ CPU with 512mb ram.. its barely usable on my system.. I certianly would not use it on a lesser system in this state... at the moment i'd rate it as unusable

I have it running fine on my 2.4GHz P4 with 512 MB.
However,
1) I cant see how to change planet quality.
2) I cant scroll down either the left or right hand side frames so I can only access the Korx and Drath ship list via the menu.
3) If I try to put two stars next to each other I get a pop-up with "An unspecified error occurred" rather than something more informative.

Noticed last game Morality was at 87 "String not found",

Still not getting pure good wins, can this be a cause ?

Once the star is in place, select the star. There should be a bitton right hand side of the window to create planets, and selecting an existing planet should allow you to change its class. The value for both a planet that's been selected and a new planet are entered in the field at the bottom of the list.

Nicely Done.

1. Map Editor - Gig map with tons of stars and planets, a dream come true. A little cpu heavy (later into the game) with a dense map, but gives me the feel of a epic 4X.

a. Way to add minor Civs?

2. SCN Editor - Money, teams, etc nice.

a. Way for Mod Techs to show up in Scn Editor?

b. Way to set number of starting minor Civs?

-- Would be nice to have a Tech Tree Printout tool for us heavy modders. -

Triple A!

It's been so long since I've thought about GC: AP that I've forgotten if you can play a "classic" game of GC or not. Could someone provide me with an answer?

Thanks! :)

Is your question whether, in AP, you can just play good ole GalCiv? If so, then, the answer is yes (with eight races instead of six). Of course you can always just use your shortcut to GalCiv. It will play the original game.

Hope it helps. (That logo brings me nostalgia (:()

You can always quit your empire and come back to claim what is rightfully yours, y'know!

Oh, and yes, it did help, and since I've signed up for Drengin Net already, I made the switch to GA: AP.

What is the most recent public release of the AP beta? I see 1.49[b] on my list, but the history indicates that there is a 1.49C also.

Thanks!

I just played that new campaign on the beta. I had this weird thing where Battleships were not being allowed to enter any sectors where I did not have a colony. Frigates and Combat Transports were able to though.

Yeah, I get the same thing. Battleships seem to be very limited in range and you need to research range technologies to get them near the enemy planets.

for moral.

Still see double starbases, starbase on a resource and adjacent base being developed.
