I am ancient at 46. I remember playing Avalon Hill games like D-Day from before I was 10. I can't even count the number of SPI games I later bought or got in their magazine.

I'm 22. I just ordered GalCiv online and I should get it tomorrow or Thrusday. Fortunately I won't have any homework for the weekend and I don't have to work so. You can guess where I'll be all weekend: in front of my computer. :CONGRAT:

50 years old. Like others, I started with the classics -- AH's Tactics II, Waterloo, Stalingrad, Afrika Corps -- went through college addicted to Strategy & Tactics and Diplomacy -- got involved in the development of the RPG RuneQuest. Oh, and been hopelessly addicted to computer gaming since the first Zork.

Hey, if any of you fellow geezers want to pull out the old stuff, there's ways to play AH titles by email ...

A question for my fellow geezers or just simply game buffs. Which of the older games was/is your favorite?

I still reserve an extremely fond place in my heart for Blitzkreig. It was easy enough as a starter game but did have it's share of strategic choices. Go Red, Kill Blue. :)

Third Reich was the first game we "mastered" so it holds a special place too and it really helped teach me a good bit of history.

Kingmaker was the one that seemed the easiest to find players for as it was pretty beer and pretzels but lets face it, it was pretty fun too. I like assigning titles and men and churches. Fun stuff. Go Stanley, but not to Plessy. No one ever seems to survive a trip there:)

Never played Kingmaker, though we'd play SSI's WWIII in a way that made it look like a game of diplomacy (house rules). Ever seen two superpowers negotiating "O.K., if you let me nuke your 7th fleet, I'll let you nuke Stalingrad, and we call it even, no escalation roll needed. O.K.?"

Wasn't WWIII a GDW game??? I don't remember AH doing one of these but as I'm a geezer my memory may well be shot. :)

I remember the game was brutal to set up so our only house rule as whoever started the nuclear holocost ( as we often did ) had to set up the next game. :) Best play balancer ever IMHO. :)

Add me to the Ancient but Young sect LOL , 49 goin on 17. Started serious gaming with Luftwaffe, the rest of the AH line and SPI's Strategy & Tactics games. Did the 3M bookshelf games for lighter fun and started Video Gaming with the Magnavox Odyssey. Was revolutionary to put the plastic overlay on the TV and play Pong at home! How far we have come!

36 and I look and feel better now than I did in my 20's! Hell, I got carded (again!) at a bar a couple of weeks ago. My secret you ask? Eating right, yoga and lots of computer games!!!
