Couple newb questions

Newb questions:

1) On bonus planetary tiles, it will say "building a cultural project here will give you bonus...' There is always a symbol on the tile denoting what it is. Problem is how do I match this symbol with the project that can be built? Should the symbol also be on the project? Otherwise I'm just guessing what goes with what. Unless of course there is only one cultural project to build and it has the word 'culture' in the title. Seems to be a bit of a blunder that they didn't put these tile symbols on the project build selection as well.

2) Whenever I load a save game the screen starts from the tech research tree. I click that off and then I'm on a planet screen. I click that off to finally to get the space map. Is there a way not to have to go through all those screens to get to space map when loading games?

3) When I'm checking out details of an individual planet, I often like to know where it's located in space, so I can plan accordingly. When you own 40 planets, it's a real hassle to have to remember the name, then scroll all over the space map looking for the planet. It would be great if there was a way to put the minimap onto the 'planet screen' so I could instantly see where that planet was located. If the planet is on a border with the enemy, it's obviously important to build strategically, and there should be way to see where he planet is located. Even if you go in the rankings tree for your planets and click on the name there, it will only take you to the planet screen but won't show you where the planet is on the map.

I am pretty new myself, but I'll try to answer at least the first question.

1) The bonus should tell you the actual bonus like "300% Research" which means you would build a research lab or other research facility on the tile to get the bonus. The icons don't seem to match up with the actual buildings, at least I haven't noticed.

2) I think it brings up the tech screen and planet screens before the game map to give you an overview of what was going on when you saved the game, to save you from opening each screen by yourself. There might be a way to change this under options, but as I don't have the game in front of me, I can't look

3) Not sure on this one, it would be of some help though, and a good suggestion.

1) Yes it would be nice if it were obvious but it isn't, However, there are only three buildings that provide an influence bonus that will benefit from a cultural bonus tile and these are Embassy, Cultural Exchange Center and Stock Market. Note that although the prime benefit of a stock market is economic, it still provides a 5% influence bonus that will be increased by the bonus tile.

As far as the other bonuses a manufacturing bonus tile gives a bonus to Basic Factory, Factory, Enhanched Factory, Manufacturing Center and Industrial Sector.

A research bonus tile gives a bonus to Basic Lab, Xeno Lab, Research Center, Research Academy, Discovery Spheres and Neutrality Learning Centers.

A morale bonus tile gives a bonus to Entertainment Network, Multimedia Center, Extreme Stadium, Zero G Sports Arena and Virtual Reality Centers.

A farming bonus tile gives a bonus to all the farms.

Note that Super Projects, Trade Goods and Galactic Achievements which provide various bonuses in themselves, do *not* get an additional benefit by being on a bonus tile, so be careful not to do this. These are things like The restaurant of Eternity, all of your capitals (Tech, Economic, Research and Political). etc.

2) No.

3) This would be a nice feature, but AFAIK there's no way to do this. Somtimes when I colonize or conquer a new planet I'll rename it in such a way that it gives me some clue as to what I want to do with the planet. Not a very good method but it's the best I've come up with.

For your third question, I believe the planet (or ship) you last looked at you can find using the 'FIND' magnefying glass next to the minimap. Also, you can open up the planetary screen and set it in alphabetical order, click on the planet and then use the find button, this definatly works.

I'm not sure if you asked this, about your second question, but it happens because the game treats a saved game as a new game (you get the "We just got the hyperdrive" paragraph and it sends you to your tech screen to choose your first tech and your home planet.) so thats why this happens.

3) This would be a nice feature, but AFAIK there's no way to do this.

I can see how asking for a minimap in the same view as the full-screen planet page is a "no way" item, but maybe there's still hope for getting main map focus to shift with last planet viewed the same way it does with last planet selected on the Colonies tab of the Civilization Manager.

3) If you click once (I believe on the planet image) in the planet list it should center on, and select the selected planet in the main view.

I may have the details off, but that's the method I was using last night to find--and spy on--the enemies best research planets.

I realize this doesn't solve the problem of not knowing where a planet is if you're just cycling through them in the planet management screen. Personally I have always found it quicker to go in and out of the management screen to get to the next planet for most things that are location relevant. Though that might be because my computer lags when loading new management pages, so cycling is slow.
