Stardock Central installation woes

I'm unable to install the Stardock Central beta. I keep getting this message:
"Failed to get default server address. Reinstall the application to correct this problem."

I un-installed and re-installed 3 times, rebooted my system 5 times, connected and disconnected from the internet, to no avail. I'm running Windows XP on a P4, 1.5Ghz, 256MB RAM, 64Kbps ISDN dialup connection.

I only need this in order to be able to download GalCiv when it finally comes out on the 26th. I'll be *mightily* disappointed if the only way to get it is through this software thing, and I can't get it to work.

Have you tried sending an e-mail message to support@stardock.com yet? It is still in beta so there will be problems, although far fewer now than there were.

I finally got SDC to run. I did it by installing it on a different machine (Win2000) and copying the registry keys to my machine. Apparently, the installer on my system did not create the following keys in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\ComponentManager\

- Exe (value: sdcentral.exe)
- Server Address (value: http://sdcentral.stardock.com/
- Server Name (value: US - Atlanta)

It did create the Key folder itself, and some of the values (Default, Path and Version). It did not create the missing pieces even after several uninstallations and reinstallations. After putting the keys in manually, it finally ran.

I then had the problem of creating a new user account. It did let me create one, but did not log me in. It gave no reason why. I went to the webpage to log in manually, and was told my new account was not yet activated. Opening my e-mail client, I found the welcome letter, clicked the link and activated the account. I was then able to fire up SDC and it logged in.

Next it gave me an error message about a missing DLL. I didn't write down the name of the DLL, unfortunately. I clicked OK and the application came up just fine. The error message no longer appears, even after exiting and reloading the application, so I don't know what was wrong, if anything.

It seems to be working now, I think.

Forgot one thing: my system's location is set to Israel. Just a wild guess - perhaps the installer targets different servers depending on your machine's location, and Israel just isn't on the maps? That would explain why it did not create several important keys on this PC, while the same installer installed fine on another PC set to US location.
