Why does this have to be so difficult?

Icon Text be gone!

Okay, everything was perfectly fine back in the WindowsXP & WindowFX 2 days. Here is what I am talking about: My Desktop

The dilemma is that in a XP32/WindowFX environment, this works perfectly, it is a good investment.

Okay, i've been wanting to upgrade to XP x64 for a long time now. I just now got all the available drivers so that this is possible. Well, the only reason ive waited this long is b/c of logitech. Thats another story.

Firstly, WindowFX2 does not work in XP x64. Unfortunately, the one and only feature i really want in WindowFX3 (which does work in x64) has been taken out! Unless im blind, transparent icons and remove icon text is now gone in WindowFX3.. I am at an impass here.

I've scoured the internet to find nothing useful, and the whole Alt-0104 or whatever is unacceptable.

Why is this? Is stardock greedy and just want to make another program for this singular function? (IconX)... Well, I downloaded the trial of IconX and it is terrible IMO.

Removing context menus, buggy selection, and even buggier drag-and-drop. All I want is to remove icon text, and possible make them transparent, all in windows x64. Is that too much to ask?

Stardock, I will pay double if you bring back the icon features of WindowFX2 in WindowFX3, in x86, x64 and all vista platforms!

If anyone has an alternative to this, please let me know....

But dont recommend these please:

* Alt-0104 trick
* IconX

Hey x0rsw1tch, from looking at the history for WindowFX in Stardock Central, it should work fine on XP x64. As for the icon effects they are still there, in config select Desktop Icons, then on bottom right click Advanced.

So your saying WindowFX 3 supports the transparent icons and the removal of icon text in Windows x64?

No not what I am saying;
You stated that

WindowFX 3 has these features under Advanced for me running XP x86.
From WindowFX page at Stardock
most features are also functional on 64-bit XP/2003 as well

It may be that icon features don't work under x64. I can't find a list of what works/does not work under x64.
