My New Swear Word

Fahrpachket!

Raising a little boy who's already picked up, "Dammit!" from me, I came across a Yiddish word that just about hits the nail on the head of the way I feel whenever I burst out in frustration.

I dunno how to spell it, but it sounds something like, "Fahrpachket!" The literal definition describes how you feel when you're trying to fix something to make it better, then everything falls apart.

That sort of thing happens to me several times a day.

So I just may be screaming, "Fahrpachket!" a lot in the future if I can remember that long peculiar word in the moments of my burning anger.

I figure it's better for my son to pick up a funny word that's harmless in any language, but descriptive enough to express a powerfully frustrated feeling.

I think that's an art of language art at its finest.

Now if I can only find a substitute for my other favorite word..."F**K!" I think nothing parallels the shock value of that word...let me know if you can find a harmless substitute for it, eh? It's really ugly coming out of my mouth, but it just pops out in powerfully angry moments. Not good.

F**k definately doesn't have a match when it comes to versatility and that relief when you bust the f-bomb out. I like the Yiddish one though.
