GalCiv II: Dark Avatar - civilization alignments

Some tweaks..

In the sandbox mode of the game, the alignments in DA will be:

Good:
Altarian Resistance
Torian Confederation
Iconian Refuge
The Krynn

Neutral:
Terran Alliance
Arcean Empire
The Thalan
Drath Remnants

Evil:
Drengin Empire
Korath Empire
The Yor
The Korx

For the first time since the original Galactic Civilizations, good, evil, and neutral will be balanced.

Cool.

Altarian Resistance

Drath Remnants

So those 2 where the unlucky races to get stomped on...

Can't wait to play the Krynn and Korath!

Hope u kept the female leader of the Altarian resistance

Perhaps a few more female leaders?

Out October still? Everything's out October...prepare lies for the Mrs...

Altarian Resistance? Bah, who cares about the Altarians.

BUT: Drath Remnants? Say it ain't so! It would seem to me, however, that this balance will be temporary if that is true -- i.e., won't be in the next full game. It does make sense that, of course, we'd be losing a race from each category (or at least two categories, instead of one).

I do so love the Drath.

Whoa...

What do you mean balanced? How are they ubalanced now? Evil's weapons are more powerfull then Good's defenses... and neutral trade/research blows the other two out of the water?.. in that sense?

No comment on the respective abilities of the alignments, but what Draginol meant was that they're ballanced in numbers: 4 to and alignment (finally!).

Say it ain't so? Darn the Korath. I am so going to wipe the floor with them. I don't know who wiped out most of the Drath Legion yet but I need to take this out on something. We know that the Altarians had it bad, but I'm surprised the Arceans are still calling themselves an empire. The Drengin control their home planet. Maybe they were able to save enough planets from the Drengin's surprise attack to still have a decent ammount of power in the galaxy. Can't wait to see the Krynn, they should be interesting.

Looking forward to it

The names of the races don't indicate who is getting killed off.

There's a difference to being conquered and being exterminated.

True enough, but they do give slight hints as to the current galactic situation.

MY guess right now- is that the two who bite the dust are the Drath and Korath...

Who says they can't introduce something new and get rid of it quickly- do you really need two sets of Drengin? One is annoying enough...

Im not quite sure but I think that it was said somewhere that the Korath themselves wipe out two other races. I don't think they are going to wipe themselves out, but who knows. I'll have to look it up.

Your guess about who goes and stays is as good as mine as to which races die off. I suspect the Torians and the Arceans going though. There is bad blood between the Drengin and those two races. With the way the Koranth are I wouldn't be surprised if they took the oppertunity to sweep in and finished off some old grudges.

*Edit*
Found it. It says it in the GC Online interview.
But in the campaign, the Korath wipe out two races. They will still be available to play in the sand-box mode though.

No one knows yet except Stardock, and they're obviously not talking.

Wow, it looks like the Drath are going to take a hit. I thought they would be ok, as they are THE espionage race (who else are you going to use to show off those new features?)

I was hoping those ugly Korx would go, and then possibly the Thalans. They're just so ugly I hate seeing them on my screen. Sorry devs, but its true.

Oh, and Terrans in the neutral category... muahahaha... the slide into the abyss begins!

I've seen concept art for the Korath, and I must say, I like the really ghostly looking one with the whitish hair.

We're in a wierd situation now with these races. The Korath and Drengin are like 'old skool' Klingons versus TNG Klingons - In the old series they were just "the baddies" and in the newer series they have a warrior culture, but they're not inherently bad.

Could it be you felt the Drengin weren't evil enough? Are you planning on moving them out to make way for something much more bloodthirsty and cruel? After all, we already have a neutral warrior race (Arceans), so the Drengin currently don't have a "niche".

I heard a rumour that they will be "rock" based lifeforms. They could be there to inhabit one of the new planet types.

The Altarian Resistance. I like the sound of that.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Korath wiped out the Drengin (like arstal said, who needs two Drengin?). This would kind of suck, though. GalCiv without Drengin is hardly GalCiv at all (although the Korath are, technically, still Drengin). I hope the other civilization to be wiped out is the Yor (something about robots flying robots makes me angry) or the Korx. I don't want to see the Thalan or Torians go, they are my allies very often. I think it would also be cool if the Terran Alliance was wiped out (foolish humans, their own technology and generosity led to their brutal demise). That's just my two cents.
