How can Stardock afford to ship Galciv to international locations for $10...?

Not that I'm complaining at all mind you :D Shipping games to international locations costs $25-30, so I'm just wondering how Stardock'll manage this without going bankrupt.

They charge $25-30$ if its FED-EX. PC boxes are not that big any more. If you send it by regular air mail it doesn’t cost that much. International shipping is a huge scam! >:(

I live in Japan, and I buy my games and DVDs from a place that charges NOTHING for international shipping. That’s right: NOTHING. Sure they send it be regular air mail, and it’s a week to get here, but who cares!
:D

If you live overseas, that a look at this site:

www.dvdboxoffice.com

But it doesnt look like they are taking pre-orders on Galciv.

Small Packet international airmail, I resently sent quite a large book to the states airmail, cost me 5 pounds thats 7.5 dollars (1.1kg I beleave). If under 2 Kg it can go via the regular post rather than via a parcel service. They need no insurance can just send another if the post loses it.

We ship overseas all the time. Typically takes 3 or 4 days to get to Europe. Sometimes less. The cost isn't that much on small packages.

Guess I must be really unlucky 'cause every site I've visited that accepts international credit cards, only offers UPS/Fed-Ex as an option. Even Fed-Exed it takes a week or two... (:(

But...

asorokop - Weee! :D That's just what I need. Didn't expect to get a link like that. Site's bookmarked LOL

We ship by catapult. If it's good enough for pets, it's good enough for packages.

Of topic but www.dvdboxoffice.com has prices slightly more pricy than you can find from most Canadian DVD retailers. My theory is they charge alittle more and ship for free.

They do well because the Canadian dollar is under valued. Go the other way around I can not buy Anime on DVD at a good price because of the same exchange rate scam.

It’s not a scam. If you live in Canada, and can get a DVD shipped to you inside Canada at a lower price, more power to you. But for most other sites like Amazon they want like $20 to ship overseas. It’s crazy!

The prices there are very competitive. Maybe a couple bucks more. But for those of us living overseas this is HUGE.

Dvd’s in Japan run from about 3500 yen to 5000 yen each. To see a movie in the theater here, it costs 1800 yen per person (about can$23). With this site I can buy a movie and have it on DVD for about 2300 yen!

And then there is the fact that movies hit theaters here last in the world most of the time. So often, the DVD is out in Canada BEFORE its in theaters here in Japan (this happened recently with The Minority Report and Bourne Identity).

asorokop,

Thats kinda sad that it works like that, isn't it. But if it's out on DVD, you can buy it internationally, right?

Right, and thats what I do. I bought a region 1 DVD player (its region 2 in Japan, like in Europe) so I could import DVDs from Canada (with dvdboxoffice.com).
