It's not easy to think of something to say about Hendrix that hasn't already been said many times, but I'll try.
If people from other planets are visiting Earth, Jimi Hendrix must have been one.
Never mind that he sometimes burned and smashed guitars. That's not what aspiring young guitarists try to imitate. If that's all it takes to become a guitar god, there would be many, many more of them.
From a Frank Zappa song about dead rock stars: "If you listen to the radio and what they play today, you can tell right away, all those assholes really need you."
