Where are the game mag previews????

How come I haven't seen any previews of this game in the game magazines?? Didn't Stardock or Strategy First send them copies early on? You can't sit back and just wait for coverage. You gotta be aggressive.

Disclaimer: I work for Stardock but don't speak for Stardock. Just one of the devs.

Brad personally visited CGW and PCGamer 3 times during the development of the game. The second time was last May where he provided them with an alpha of the game and a CD full of screenshots. I know because I was one of the guys assigned to put together the CD for him.

He visited again last August with the first beta of the game, more screenshots, and let them the beta CD to do a preview on. He went there with Strategy First. He personally demoed the game to them.

It's not that Brad didn't try, it's that they chose not to cover it.

While it is true that I did visit the game mags, we have gotten a lot of previews.

Computer Games Magazine did a really good review. So did Gamespot, Avault, and countless other webzines.

While CGW and PC Gamer didn't do previews, one has to realize that each year, 7500 games are released. To us, obviously, GalCiv is a big deal, but until relatively recently, GalCiv was kind of flying under the radar. And to be honest, until mid January the game wasn't terribly impressive looking (our multimedia stuff didn't get integrated until very late into development).

Magazines have to cater to their readers and hence previews tend to cover things with a very proven track record. I think a GalCiv II or something like that will get more attention if GalCiv is successful.

Ummm, Brad...Can we just focus on GalCiv for now!?!? Remember our year of support, add ons, and extras ;) You can wait on GalCiv2 for awhile ;p

The April issue of PC Gamer did have a little 3 line blurb about the game in their '2003 Mega-Preview' section.

Not much, but better than nothing, I guess. :)

Hope you guys have enough bandwidth for the download demand come 3/26. ;)
