First event: Most Minimalistic Skin

On May 4 the judging for the first event begins. That event, Most Minimalistic WindowBlinds visual style, will be judged by 5 judges. One from deviantART, one from Neowin, 2 from Nullsoft, and 3 from Stardock. If you have a minimalistic WindowBlinds skin you are working on, get it in before May 4.

Just an idea. How about a popular vote? It would have no impact on the final decision, but just to see what the masses would have chosen. Something simple like the poll's format on WC would be enough... (a box to click and then press vote, and only 1 vote per person)

Yikes! I have to hurry up and finish the last details and the toolbar icons and animations. Excactly what I'm working on...I'll get it done, must finish...before...deadline... I like that idea Jachyra. Even though it already seems to be stated on several of the comments ;)

Yep, one of the judges (for all categories) should be the result of Public votes ...

after seeing what's the most popular on wincustomize and deviantart on some days, I think it's fairly safe to assume that the mass majority of people don't always know what is the best art. I'm not talking art from an opinion point of view, but of a technical aspect. same reason they don't pick a bum off the street to give a museum tour. people who know what to look for are usually the best to decide. but that is my own opinion on the matter and by what I stated before this sentence means that anything I type now doesn't matter. ;)

xino has got a good point . . . however, while most of the masses are not skilled enough to know the time/effort/details of top-notch quality, they are the ones who buy the work, whether premium suites, or the programs to attempt their own efforts. I think it would be neat for a popular opinion poll . . . just for the fun of it!

I guess, from a users' point of view, the time taken and the technical input are not the aspects of a skin that sway the decision. In a commercial environment the product that has the broadest public appeal wll beat the technically superior product more often than not. (Does anyone remember VHS vs BETA?)

User votes and such all good ideas if made a month ago. Too late now.

I understand your feelings on the subject. But you have to remember, the judges are the one's who're giving away the cash and prizes. It doesn't matter if they pick a skin just because they like the neat colors. It's their chose. If anyone complains about the chose, then (you) should sponser the next one, so you'll have a voice.;) ( That sounded negative, not meant to be).

Now would be a good time to say... "The very best of luck to all you great skinners" I think there's some great work here, and I thank you all for allowing me to add some great skins to my collection.
