WindowFX still supported?

There are several problems with WindowFX, like the crashing when shutting down Windows or even worse the invisible window, when opening an Explorer using the Windows-E key combination.

The last version is older than 2 months. There are constant new betas for WindowBlinds, but none for WindowFX even though there are much worse problems with that product.

Are there any plans to fix those bugs? As it is, I really can't use it, even though I do like the effects a lot.

It's never a good idea to assume an issue you are having on your computer with a desktop enhancement means there is a bug in the program. It could be any number of things such as your video drivers (most likely cause).

None of the issues you just reported are happening here for instance.

I'd have to disagree with you, Frogboy. The invisible windows happened to my, too. I couldn't uninstall windowfx, so I had to delete files to make the program not work.
After I corrupted the program, then I could work normally again.
This all happened last night, after I installed WindowFX.

I'm also gonna have to disagree.

I haven't been running WindowsFX for a while, but have been updating via SDC.
Yesterday I was at another forum and somebody was asking about how to make the desktop icon text diasapper. I recalled WFX did that and ran it to make sure.

After I checked it, I unloaded it. At that point everything started to freeze up.

The desktop kept the WFX effect of text on right instead of reverting back to text on bottom.
Right clicking the desktop (to go back to unshow icons) had no effect - no menu would come up.
Minimizing a window caused just the outer edge to disappear while the main body stayed as part of the wall.
Using taskmanager to log myself out, the going back in = things still frozen.
I had to shut down via taskmanager then come back in for things to be normal.

I assume you've submitted this bug to support then because we've not seen it.

1) Which features were being used?

2) How old was the driver?

Uninstalling WindowFX can be done through Stardock Central (or if you don't have Object Desktop you can do it from Add/Remove programs).

I haven't yet. I tend to look around here first.

My drivers are dated June 23, 2006

I'll use the Stardock central tool to report that bug. But the interface is very cumbersome, especially if you want to add a bit more text...

Both problems are reproducable, if you use WindowFX together with WindowBlinds 5. I tried both standard and PerPixel themes, but the invisible Explorer window (if started with Windows-E) is reproducable in either case almost all the times.

When I return to the standard XP theme, it seems that the problem is gone.

I hope that helps...
