Another luke warm review of MOO3

I do not think I will buy it.

I only bought MOO2 because GC did not exist on Windows but that is soon going to change.

This may well be a very good chance for GalCiv to become a hit. I think that a lot of people are going to be frustrated by MOO3 as it seems very hard to get into it. Thus they may rush on another game to calm all the expectations they have had over the last 3 years...thus GalCiv could become a surprise big seller!

I actualy thought it was a "good" review until I read his closing comments on the AI (or lack of). Without a strong AI to challenge players it really doesnt have anything. Im still getting it but Im not so psyched now. Still ... 2 new space 4x games coming out, gotta love that

GEEZ its amazing how many people change there minds about a game because of a few reviews by mainly console website's like avault.Play it yourself before saying a game sucked you have never played.

I don't think Pascal said MOO3 sucked. I think he even said he was still getting it, but his expectations have been lowered. And that just might turn out to be a good thing, because he may be less likely to be displeased since it has a lower level of expectation to live up to.

As for the reviews, yes I look at them, but I have also been following the remarkes by the Quicksilver leader (Constantine?). Some of the "objectives" he has mentioned, and some of his comments of what is being "toned down" have made me very apprehensive about MOO3. Not that I think the toning down wasn't needed, but that it sounds like it is still too complicated to please me.

Just been to the MoO3 boards. It seems that a chap in Germany has his copy of the game and has also found in the MoO3 box - a card advertising GalCiv

That can only be good for GalCiv, especially if MoO3 is less than what peoples expectations are LOL

Yep. I guess it's okay to talk about it now.

Every box of MOO3 comes with a flyer/card for Galactic Civilizations.

And no, we didn't pay anything for that. Like I've been trying to tell people there, MOO3 and GalCiv aren't competitors, they're more like allies.

I read the review in your link. I found it disconcerting that the review was paid for by IGN, an online marketing concern that expects to sell MOO3, hence, I find it difficult to credit this as an unbiased review. Nevertheless, the game walkthrough the reviewer gave (almost all of the 6 page review) seems to bare out the impression of a very complex game. Will I like it? I don't know. I will have to wait and see.

Frogboy, say a great "wow" to the MOO3 team from me... There's little place left for fair and nice enterprises in our corporate era
Guess there's not alot of people that believe enough in what they do as some programmers.

Guess we wont need to wear hats written GalCiv on them
