Population Transfers

Can one pick up excess population and drop them off on another planet? I would like to hear how it's done before "experimenting"

Use transports--I've done this before and it works.

It may also work with colony ships--haven't tried that.

And can you relaunch the transports with Zero pop to head back to the home planet? Do they need to be military transports or trade modules or either?

i transfer all the time. especially if i just got a nice new large planet. I will then move a population that is maxing into one planet to the new one.

Probably either. I know for certain you can use transports. Also you can't launch with zero population, you can launch with 1 though so pretty close to it. I'd use transports for this purpose though, just because you can use those through out the game to invade new planets as well as move population around.

trade modules won't work, they don't transport any one.

Gotcha thanks...I had a problem with trying to launch with Zero pop, and was thinking "wtf"?
