Fleets are way too small

I want fleets with hundreds of ships!

I think someone at GC2 has been playing my other favourite game - Space Empires.

In Space Empires you civ can only colonize planets with certain atmospheres - rock, gass or ice. This often makes you more friendly towards other civs who aren't competing for the same planets and adds a whole new dimension to things.

I think that it is absolutely Great that GC2 will be getting this in the expansion pack - a thousand thank you's!

However there is one thing that Space Empires still does better than GC2: fleets. In GC2 I can have about 6 huge ships at most, whereas in SE I like to eventually build fleets that have a large number of huge ships in them. To illustrate this - when I end a game in SE I usually have a two or three fleets each containing several hundred huge ships!

Please can the GC2 team allow us to build unlimited sized fleets - I want to have Babylon 5 style battles - not small Star Trek like skirmishes. It would be worth it even if it meant turning off the graphics bit and just seeing a graphical list of your fleets status at the end of each combat round.

You could just mod your game so that every race starts with a tech that gives an insane logistics bonus.

I like the logistics idea. A while ago, I had a game called Imperium Galactica II. Basically, the way the military worked in that was that you put all your ships into one big fleet. If you didn't do this, the AI would and you'd loose all your space battles. It was, in a word, rubbish. Logistics prevents this from happening.

Also: Make Logistics for each hull 0, then you can have 1 logistics and it wouldn't matter.

Actually, has anyone recieved ownership of multiple Xeno Logistical Race Tiles, the one that bumps up your logistics that each race can build.

I distinctly remember thinking the one or two time I have "inherited" a world with it "WAHHHOOOO" as my logistics shot up quite a bit and frankly the game was pretty much over as no one could match the fire power I could pack into one fleet after that.

The "Unlimited Power" scenario starts you with 50 logistics, but you have to play as the Drengin.

The easy change is to mod the game so ships count for less logistic points, and each race starts with more, and each tech adds a lot more.

Guess I'd better head over to the mod forum then. Thanks everyone

I think the reason that fleets are so small, is the difficulty of manuevering multiple ships through bent space within close distance of eachother, without their bending interfering with eachother and most likely ripping eachother the shreds.

So how are you going to get the AI to focus on one massive fleet?

Don't forget, if you have massive fleets it's going to really slow down your system.

If there were a hundred ships, maybe
