Cheats

I love Galciv, having played the first from it's inception (one of the earliest to buy it). Sometimes I hash it out with the AI and sometimes I like to play God and cheat like hell

Unfortunately, I've noticed, cheats will work as long as you do not re-load or quit a game. Once you do that, you can never use cheats again in that particular saved game. I am running 1.2 beta 1.

Again, don't bash me because sometimes I like cheats. I know how some gamers feel about the issue, but having won games (though I don't bother to submit as I don't have enough time to remain competitive), on all difficultly levels entitles me to play as I see fit.

Any ideas?

I am extremely dissapointed with this change. It was not necessary and I hope its a bug.

Alter your raceconfig file in the My Docs\Games\GalCiv2 folder to give yourself whatever techs and abilities you desire.

Those changes carry over.

Also if you load a mod you can not use cheats in the first place.

Lets hope that gets changed D;

I wonder if they could change the control + P, so that it actually affects the planet instead of just changing the number.

I use the cheat mode to advance my technologies quickly for ship design purposes. My ship designs evolve over time - as technology improves. By tying my ship designs to certain technologies, the new "modern" designs come available as certain technologies are researched in my games. (FYI: techs I use are engine type and hull size). Plus, having the different visual designs makes it easier to know which ships have been upgraded or not.

It's a bug. One of the devs posted elsewhere that they're looking at it, but it has a low priority.
