SUGESTION for PIRATES - Please Stardock, read this.

I think it would be nice to have an option like the one in civilization series with the barbarians... So you could set the frenquency the pirates appear.

but, it would be nice first If I was able to see any pirates ships at all.

I know there were already some discussions about thoses issues but I think there is something to do with that and that would not be really hard....I guess.

Keep working !!!

More Pirates !!

yea, sounds like more pirates would be nice, but it also sounds like they are rather overpowered. They shouldn't be able to take on a HUGE battleship with black hole shooting tech weapons, but they should have a chance to get away.

Well I like the pirate thing it's a nice twist. I also understand at least in one scenario why they would have some good weapons. In my current game a ship of prisoners basically gets loose and of course they are my prisoners from my prison planet yadda yadda yadda.. So they have taken my ship(s) and using my best tech. Requiring me to further build
and update the ships in my fleets to take them on.

Now the only thing that is not good is the fact that they will just sit there and wait for you to come kill them. Granted they have 3 ships minimum and they are at the biggest hull size you have researched with your best weaponry at their disposal. So they are not always the same and depending on when in the game you get them will depend on how strong they are. I try not to pick up the prison planet now just because of this. However that does not mean that I will not get it anyway because the voters of the other civs could still give it to me.

I would like to see them take over a planet and try to create some form of base of operations. Be it a remote starbase someplace that they send out ships from to pillage the trade routes etc...
It would also be cool if we could find some way to use the pirates to buy tech advances ( naturally it would be at a much larger price than normal and it would be a random smattering of tech that they have stolen from the trade routes. ). A sort of Black Market kind of deal. You could even pay them to attack shipping lanes etc.. just some nice twists like that.

Damn, and I thought I'd find a hint on how to pirate GalCiv 2 here!
Could someone please direct me to a no-CD crack?!?

I guess they'd basically be like a minor race, but instead of a planet, they should get no planets and a few ships, includign a trop transport or two. It'd be nice to see them carve out there own empire.

While we're making stuff up that would be really cool and almost impossible to program into the game...

Have a few random planets (perhaps one per galaxy size) begin the game as pirate bases. They would appear just like all of the uncolonized planets, bue each would have a ship or two lurking nearby. If you try to colonize one, BLAM, you've lost a colony, but now you know the location of one of the pirate planets. I would make them very poor, maybe just a colony tile and a starport, and with a low population; but after you successfully invade one the UP rewards you with an extra trade route or a few hundred bcs (in addition to you keeping the planet).

Well, I still think we need more pirates, with normal fleet only, small and medium fleet would be nice, with a large vessel as a command one.

There is lot of thing to do with that, and not to complex I guess...

Yes... the only pirates I've encountered are the escaped prisoners.... I've heard of their misadventures.. but never seen them..... they need somekind of an indicator....

I like the idea of smaller pirate fleets that do what pirates are supposed to do--harass your shipping lanes. They can't stand up to a capital fleet, but they are wiley, quick and love to steal a quick buck from your unguarded traders.

The pirates in this game are more like the mongolian horde. They rarely show up, but when they do, run for the hills.

Love the game, just my two cents,
