DAMMAAAATT!!!

Here we are with a potentially awesome TBS and SD cannot stop inconveniencing the gamer. You have to download tons of shiite to complete a game that should've been in a couple of more months of development (or perhaps the unthinkable BETA TESTING). I have two computers in my house, one is father's business computer w/ Internet and the other is without. That other one has my games on it. My father works from that computer and if we disconnect the internet line and reconnect it to the other computer, we will starve due to the frequency at which we are machine-gunned us updates because MY FATHER'S COMPUTER WORK IS WHERE WE GET THE MONEY TO LIVE.

As much as they try to convince you it isn't so bad, being poor sucks. I can' t even afford the game.

I suppose it is pointless carrying on about this further. Oh, and no I'm not a company troll. Think of me as the parent pointing out his child's mistakes.

Um....huh? Stay in school and get good grades so you can get a good job so you can move out. Then you can buy all the computers you want. It's a long-term plan but it's the only way!

By the way; you can't disconnect Daddy's machine for a few minutes to get the updates?

I have absolutly no clue what you are trying to say.
You can't download patches to this game, which you don't even own because you can't afford it??

Well... there's always Xmas, and your local library might have internet access, and allow you to burn files to CD.

I do feel for people who either don't have Internet access or a dial up only as it has almost become manditory now to fix a game by the many, often large, downloads that seem to follow within a short period of time a games release. I am not writing about extra game functionality or incompatability with hardware, nor am I referring to this game only, but there does seem to be very few games released today that do not need fixing, and often, through patches due to bugs that seem to be missed, possibly because of pressure to get the game out of development and / or a poorly implemented testing phase.

For me the only thing worse than the above is a game that is released a little early that never gets fixed. At least with Brad you have the impression that there are a team of people who actually care about the game that they designed as well as the people who bought it.

The OP might want to consider scheduling the downloads through the night when the PC might be free...?

Actually it shouldn't have been. It was ready to go weeks before the release date, and they got accused of holding it back and trying to make it "perfect". Don't download the beta's, it's not hard. Just wait for 1.1 and then download it.

This is the first time I've seen someone complain about Stardock's habit of updates (without dripping sarcasm). DON'T DOWNLOAD THEM! You aren't forced to. Any problems with too many downloads are by choice.

The OP needs to shove it.

LOL get this,

The OP says he cant unplug dads inteernet, yet he has enough time to not only visit this site, but to sign up and make a thread bitchin about his lack of funds and internet....

Ever heard of a network? IE-download the update and send it to your computer without needing to unplug
Ever heard of a CD/DVD burner- IE burn the update to a disk
Ever heard of a flash drive- IE send it to a USB flash memory device and put it on you comp

OMG wow...
