Graphics

Sizes a little out of wack

Why is it when you get the newest, greatest engine or what ever and the guy says, "it doesn't go faster but we made it smaller so it takes less space your ships". Why are the graphics bigger. It doesn't make sense. They say they made "warp engines 2" smaller than "warp engines 1" but "warp engines 2" looks bigger than "warp engines 1". I don't know, it just seems wrong to me.

Regardless of what the text says, you can resize the parts to be as large or small as you want within the ship builder.

People like it when they research a tech and it looks cooler/bigger/whatever than the last tech you had.

You can always resize it in the ship builder.

Wow. I would say don't you have anything better do, but then again, I am responding to the post .

i was wondering the same thing, too... it bugs me.

they should start off big and boring then get smaller and cooler looking.

this is what runs through my head as i resize them in the ship builder.

We definatly battled this one back and forth a bit.

On one side, people want to to see bigger, cooler representations of their weapons as they work their way up the tech tree.

On the other side, you're saying that the item is getting smaller, but when the person picks it the weapon is actually bigger.

I think, in the end, the graphics are just fluff anyways, so I'd just use the size slider to fuel your thirst for text and GFX to synch up

Yeah, I know about the resize tool. I don't know I always think of the cell phone or pc as an example; the first iterations were big and bulky, the size of a room, and yes, "cooler" looking. Now we have pocket pc's that are also cell phones, cameras and music players; they also look pretty plain/sleek.

The ship engines for example, I was sure somebody got it wrong and mixed up the graphics.

I guess I'll just mod it and reverse the "fluff"

for me, since i'm usually putting the new engines or whatever into the same location on a ship when i'm upgrading it, it just means that i have to adjust the slider differently for each new tech, so that the final size is the same as it was before.

really, the ideal would for all generations of the tech have the same starting size... then i'd be able to click on the old engine, hit delete, then select the new one (retaining the size and orientation of the deleted part, as is currently done), and drop it in without having to fool with the slider any further.

but no, i need to adjust it.

bah, yeah, i'll just need to learn to mod, that's all.
