Custom Ships in all my games.

How do I move a ship I made in a Gods game(you start with all techs) into a game I am currently playing? And how do I make all my custom ships show up in any game I play?

Custom ships that you make in other games will show up in new games when you meet all of the technological requirements for them.

In the God mode, you have ultimate minitiarization, so it's impossible to strip down the components to a blank ship because of that and I'm not sure how to edit it.

I wrote a long post here on how to edit the ship xml files to strip out the tech requirements. This is for version 1.1 beta2 and higher.

Well for one, I made a ship from scratch, with Kryo's Hull Mod, and I want to bring it into a game I am already playing, and close to finishing.

Also, interstingly on the game I want to bring the ship into, I have 172 load points on my huge ships, but the start of the Gods game my Huge only has 160... Anyone have an idea why?

So I have to start a new game inorder to get the ship I want to get into the game? Oh well, guess I will have to wait for a new game then.

No, just meet the tech requirements. Kyro's hull mod is a different matter too, it edits the way hulls work

Also want to add that if you want ships from other games, the simplest way is once you get base designs without tech requirements you want to use (make sure they have no components equipted) is to put them in your \My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ships folder.

I make a copy of the folder with just base ship designs and keep it in another place. After I finish every game I backup the existing ship folder to a zip archive with the name of that game in it in case I want to play a save from it (I put the save files drom the game I want to keep iin the archive too) , and delete it. I then copy my base archive ship folder in it's place so I start fresh each game.

Note that ship design .xml files are also saved in the save game file itself - if you restore a save from another game, you may run into problems if you have ships with the same name because of this. Use caution.

OK here the deal. In my saved game universe, I am 2 blocks from tech victory, and would have no more research to do. However, in the Gods of the Universe Scenario, none(0, zilch, zip, nadda, nothin) of my saved game universe ships show up at all. Only ones I have made in the gods game in the past show up, and its not many. Ok so the ship I want to bring over to my save game universe has no components at all, just the ship. Not showing up either. So thats the story of that.

Now Another thing that I am curious about: why in the Gods of the Universe game do I start with 160 lop(load out points) but in 2 seperate saves, about a week apart(real time) I have 172 and 184 lop?

The tech requirements tag in the xml has no effect ingame (maybe it lists the ship in the tech's details). The game determines when it is available according to what components are on it.

There are some super/galacitc planet improvements that increase miniaturization. Also, eac hrace has it's own minaturization bonus, so that will contribute as well.

@ syneris

Well, when I tried to use the ships with the Tech requirement tag and no component tags in the XML file they still would not appear until the listed tech. Only by stripping out both would they appear.

If you use battle of the gods to design ships you must make sure you only use the basic amount of building slots or you will require full minimization tech to get them in your regular games

Hyperion Shrinkers. Each race can only build one and they add 15% miniaturization.
You can also have multiple Shrinkers if you have taken one or more from the other races.

I have all techs but the last two in the tech victory tree. And I think I have 2 Hyperion Skrinkers. But I dont understand why the ship from the Gods game wont show up in the saved game universe I have as well.

You probably had a hyperion shrinker built on one of your planets, or maybe you used a different race with a higher miniturization bonus.

Yeah I figured out that I have 2 Hyperion Shrinkers. Either way, I still cannot get the ship into the saved games of the universe I am playing. And Vice Versa to the Gods scenario. I only have what I built before.

I didn't know that that was a racial ability. But it also can't be taken by a custom race I see. Maybe Next Game I will Play the Yor, for the extra space I will get from their 25% miniturization bonus.

I did find that when I made a ship with the Hyperion Shrinker built, it didn't show up until after I bought the Shrinker on my first turn. So, that was a factor, but, when I first made the design, I made it without any thing but all the tech, so thats my next try, get the very last of the techs and see if they show up then.

But that still doesn't explain why some ships I built in my Saved Game Universe don't show up in the Gods Scenario, when I had no special things at all. Maybe its cause of the Scenario, I can't see the bulk of my custom ships.

Anyone please help!!!

does anyone know if I try to strip the tech and component requirements out if it will fix the problem?
