Problems with crashing

Suddenly my game has started crashing when I load a save game (and at other, seemingly random times) The problems seem only to have become more frequent since I updated my ATI drivers, but they were by no means absent with the old ones.

See you have a dual processor. Have you tried checking out this thread for solutions?

I had some trouble as well.
I’m on an ATI 9800 Pro (still going strong ).
Much of the crashes went away after I got the latest drivers but some infrequent snafus still occurred. This might not be a totally smooth way for You to get to the bottom of the problem, but I solved it by drawing another line of water-cooling to the ATI-card. I haven’t had any problems since then. You might want to look into an alternative cooling solution if you think that helps and the double core thingy doesn’t work for you.

Most of my crashes (all of them as I recall it) were in the ship design screen.

Seems that the multi-threading is only an issue on AMD processors. I'm pretty sure I have an Intel chip. I'm not as solid on the hardware side as I should be but I think setting the affinity be just the ticket.
