Black Screen on startup

After updating GalCiv 2 to the newest version last night, the game now goes to a black screen and sits there. I have a .cra file for both crashes. I have also uninstalled the game until I hear back from you. Crash log below, I do have both the .cra and the .dmp files. I have just noted that my screen res was 1280x960 which is not the correct desktop I run, switched to 1280x1024.

Have you tried windowed mode?

With the latest release patch (not beta), I had a problem with the black screen as well.
Glen, take a close look at the Direct3D lines on the debug.err, you'll notice it is failing to initialize the renderer. That part is I'm sure, exactly the same as in my debug.err file when I encountered the problem.
Look in the prefs.ini file for the game, located in your My Documents\Galciv2 directory, if it says the resolution is set to 1024x768 try manually reseting it to your desktop resolution or higher. Doing so fixed the black screen for me.
