Maybe we can get these...
Added or Fixxed :) Long Post

I guess after a few weeks of gaming it's time for me to weigh in on the few things (and I only mean FEW) that bother me.
1) AI: When allied or close relations with an AI and it is under attack, for some stupid reason it surrenders to the ENEMY.
IE: In one game it is the Torian, myself, and the Drengin. I am ALLIED with the Torian and fighting a war against the Drengin.
The Drengin control roughly half of the map and myself and the Torian about a quarter each. All is going fine, we are both invading and generally blowing stuff up. Soon the Torian are taking a beating as the Drengin are focusing on them. This works great for me, I can build up and do some raids etc. But then suddenly the Torian SURRENDER. And guess who they surrender to? If you guessed their ALLY me, well you guessed wrong! This severely chaps my ass. I know it's been discussed time and again about the AI surrendering for no reason and I agree. But AT LEAST if they are going to surrender, SURRENDER to the people with the BEST relations. Allied, close, etc... NOT THE ENEMY. GRRR. Which leads me to 2.
2) When AI's surrender maybe a game option to receieve their TECH, ships, starbases, and money they have left. I know I have seen AI's surrender right after I extorted 200bc from them for a tech when the slider indicates they have 20,000 bc+ and I get nothing more than their planets and population. While this may cause some Empires to go into the red due to inheriting a huge fleet/system they cannot sustain, there is always the AI or player option, of decommissioning ships/destroying excess buildings if they cannot afford it. Which leads me to 3.
3) When an AI loves you long time, and for $5 gives you a few of "their best ships, soldier boy!" which turn out to be STARBASES (maybe a clarification in the Hail would be nice as well), why do we not get the added RANGE bonus these stations normally supply? Wow that Human guy is the Bomb he gave me 5 starbases. Too bad they are JUST out of my travel range and I cant get constructors to upgrade them BECAUSE THEY DONT GIVE ANY ADDED RANGE!?!?!?!?!? Damn Drengin just nerfed em before I could expand far enough... DOH! GRRRR...
4) Upgrading ships in 1.1 Beta. Maybe it was like this before but this is totally annoying
I have a fleet of 6 ships parked in the same parsec as a starbase. Now I want to upgrade these ships. Since i cannot upgrade the fleet now, I just disband the fleet. So now in order to upgrade the ships INDIVIDUALLY, they have to be in a parsec ALONE so I get the little upgrade option. Which means I have to move each ship wasting a move just so I can upgrade them. I don't mind disbanding them, but maybe clicking a ship's icon and then a HOTKEY (CTRL-U) for upgrade would be great. Which leads me to 5.
5) TURN OFF THE FREAKING AUTO SELECT A SHIP WITH UNUSED MOVEMENT POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ***PULLS HAIR OUT*** Whats left anyway from all of the other **PULLS HAIR OUT*** incidents... At least an option to enable/disable this function would be super. Perhaps a step further and a CTRL-SHIFT-A while in game to toggle this on and off while playing. Because it could be handy at times when you have a bazillion ships and don't want to leave any sitting idle. But mostly it just wastes my moves, and obviously aggrivates the poop out of me
Which leads me to 6.
6) A REPLAY FUNCTION! An option on the setting screen. For each turn. Or maybe an in-game hotkey CTRL-Z or something. And what I mean is, just REPLAY all of the computers ship moves and battles with the same outcome, reshow GNN events, reshow Tech Completions, and replay your own ships' autopilot moves if you have it set to Auto Follow them in the options screen. This is so just in case you missed something on the TECH screen, ot it autoselected an empty ship and moved the screen while watching the computer move, or the cursor was in the wrong spot and scrolled etc... There have been may times when I have missed an AI sneaking into my area because of an auto select or mouse scroll because the pointer was in the wrong spot during a long "Post turn button push" or a slight lag when I clicked away a screen like Diplomacy, when I just gave the AI 2500 bc without knowing it.
To summarize: Just REPLAY (with the same outcome) the entire series of events that occurred on your screen after you hit TURN.
7) Maybe an option to TURN OFF/Temporarily Shut Down excess factories/labs so they aren't factored in on planetary production and thus cost. Nothing worse than barely scrapping by, getting a Yor research uber planet, and having it cost you WAY more than you can afford. Thus you must either eat the huge expense, or destroy the buildings. Then waste time RE-BUILDING them later. Just a thought. I'm not saying dont pay the MAINTENANCE costs because obviously you still need to patch the leaky roof, and cut the weeds growing up the walls, but just send the workers home and have no output, until re-activated. And maybe even a few week re-activation period to get it up and running is better than destroy and 20 weeks to rebuild later.
8) Clicking Clicking and more darn clicking.... Click a planet and RIGHT CLICK a spot on the map creates a WAY POINT (normal waypoint popup at this point) for that planet assuming it has a Shipyard.
Clicking a planet and RIGHT CLICKING an EXISTING Way Point sets that planet's way point to the existing one (no popup). In a parsec you have 2 fleets, 1 Huge Blowerup of Stuff Ship, 1 Colonizer, and a Starbase. You click the "stack" and it shows all of the object icons on the interface. Let me RIGHT CLICK the Starbase Icon, to load the info screen (Normal screen when you double click or hit the " I " button) same for the ships. If they are Fleeted bring up the Fleet screen that somehow I cannot figure out how to get on a regular basis.
Multiple Left Clicking a "stack" should cycle through all objects in order and bring up their main status screen. As it stands now clicking through a Fleet, Ship, Starbase, Waypoint etc, sometimes gets you the object you want most times not.
Right Clicking a Tech tree Item should show exactly what it does. The amount of damage, exact beaker cost, exact defense, exact base moves, cost for that item on a ship, etc...
All of this just seems more intuitive as all of us have played games where right clicking shows status or makes things easier. Other strategy games, RTS's etc. I often find myself right clicking things and then saying to my self "That doesn't do anything moron" ROFL
9) Espionage. I think you SHOULD NOT be able to see population NOR approval without espionage at a certain level. If you want to know how many defenders, you gotta send in a Troop Trans. That is IF you don't have good enough intel through espionage. Same with enemy ship movement, and destination. Low espionage... Maybe see someones economy, or their relations with OTHER CIV's.
For Example: I am a Corporate Spy for, dare I say it, a company that HATES WalMart. I have to start near the bottom. They arent going to share with me the details of their computer logistics system and computer warehousing/inventory system (Race's Logistics, nor their Ships Weapons equipped) nor where and why they are going places (Ship Destinations). Now they might give me a general idea of how much revenue the company brings in general but nothing exact (maybe in this case/game a low medium high economy rating) but maybe how much the specific Zone or store I am at makes where I am located (Again a general rating for planets). They will NOT for a while share with me Sales and merchandising secrets, nor any union issues (Approval Rating and exact Global Economy). They will Not tell me how many poor low paind immigrants they have working for them for a very long time until i move up (gain higher espionage). They will NOT tell me what kind of super efficient engines and low cost refrigeration units they use nor the deals they cut on gasoline (Ship Moves and range). They will NOT tell me what OTHER business they have secret deals with (Trade Routes unless I can SEE them and Alliances. Now War I can see when 2 ships fight and I can KNOW they are at war then but until I have espionage high enough, I dont know for sure when it begins or ends) I also think that moving up enough on the corporate ladder you will learn which technologies WalMart uses (Start with a generalized rating low, medium, advanced, supereme tech level, that eventually when high enough espionage you see ALL of their know techs and what they are currently working on). I also will not learn early on how OTHER companies view me other than a general view (Cool, warm, close, hostile, at war), but I am sure eventually I will find out what business/merchandising/economic/ethical tactics they other companies like and/or dislike (When high enough espionage you start to see why other races feel "Cool" or "Close" to you, and then can adjust accordingly. Etc......
Now all of this might have been mentioned before but i actually have some time to type this up, but however do NOT have time to surf a butt load of forum posts. So if any of these Ideas have already been mentions, I appologize. And to those who have mentioned them before, as the saying goes "Great Minds Think Alike!"
Maybe if the same things are posted enough they will become a reality. Since Stardock all ready does a superb job, I wouldn;t be surprised to see these at some point
Just my thought ans opinions, nothing more
