few gameplay questions ...

Ok i've been playing this game for 2 weeks and and its awesome but i still dont know few things so ...:

1. Should i specialize worlds ? If yes how should i do it ? i usually build a factory first and then what ever the planet needs ( starport, labs, market , one farm etc.) if specialize then how ? small worlds big worlds etc. i usually only spezialize the planets with some kind of capitol.
2. I played the campaign but the missions where u fight vs 40 dmg ships just irritates me ... do you fight them all the way to the end ?
3 Are there any tools to make new ship modules? i must say at first i was satisfied with the pieces in game but after few designs its getting boring ... even after the new patch that added ~10 parts
I noticed that when research new improvements the planets automaticly queue the upgrades and you cant build the older cheaper ones ... in big maps you often colonice worlds for long time but putting a enchanced factory factory takes 50 turns
and theres not always ccash to speed it up... how do u deal with that ?

1. As you mentioned, specializing works well with capitols. It's also good with revenue planets, because you need a large, happy population with market centers to generate a lot of tax income. For most decent sized worlds, I start with a factory, a starport, then 2-3 more factories followed by whatever I'm specializing that world in. A high PQ world that specializes in manufacturing (i.e., lots of factories and your industrial capitol) is useful to quickly build trade goods and galactic achievements before the other races. Research benefits the least from specialization.

Regarding factory improvements, no, there's no way to get the older but cheaper factories. What I usually do is wait until all or most of my worlds need mfg upgrades, then I focus their social spending AND the global slider for a few weeks until they've upgraded.

You can go into the governors screen and uncheck auto update for improvements. You will have to do it on all planets you do not want to auto-improve.

Go to the planet management screen. Click details. click the govorner button and uncheck auto upgrade improvements and/or auto-terraform buttons.

Note this will not make the earlier buildinga available in the build queue, it will just prevent the existing buildings from being upgraded.
