Serial number

Ok, i've purchased a copy of this game, limited edition tin box, but the serial number im using in stardock keeps coming up as invalid.

This is the first software ive had serious troubles with the serial number, is the serial number the 'use this serial number to dl exclusive collectors edition content' serial number on the back of the manual?

No, the serial number you want should be on a sticker on the CD jewel case... The collecter's edition number is what you use to download the "extras" here:

i had the same issue. if you have the english european edition they forgot to add the normal serial number. what you have to do it go here Link
stick in your collectors edition serial number and it will give you the normal serial number you need to get the patches.
