Multiple marketing centers & starbases

Me want honeycomb?

Do more adv. marketing centers on a planet = more benefit, or not? I seem to recall reading someplace that certain buildings did not give you any benefit after the first one on a given planet was made. Did they ever fix that?

Also, if a planet falls within the radius of more than 1 starbase, does it get a benefit greater than if it fell within the radius of just one? Should I be honeycombing my star systems with beneficial starbases?

Yes, starbase bonuses do stack.

Don't know about marketing centers though.

Honeycomb, honeycomb, me want honeycomb!

If you need me I'll be off playing with a maxxed military production bonus.

Multiple marketing centers do help. As for buildings that have no additional benefit when you build more than one: Starports, Fleet Managers, plus any acheivement.

Am I mistaken, or are the bonuses from the capitals only additive? I built an econ capital + several markets on a planet my last game, and the results were very disappointing. Same with my tech capital on a planet with 2 300% research squares and 1 100% square.

They should double the total technology/manufacturing power on that planet. (Which is what they have done for me.) I haven't had the problems that you stated.

They do not gain bonuses from the multiplier squares though, if that is what you are talking about?

One thing to note. Is that if you have a bonus, like a Manufacturing Capital. It dose not do you any good to put it on a bonse tile. The Capital dose not do any Manufaturing. It simply dubbles the Manufactureing for the planet. So it is best to put a factory on the Bonuse tile, and build the capitals on non bonus tiles.

Using multiple starbases on a single planet can be very powerful, but remember that those extra starbases get EXPENSIVE after a while. You have to decide whether it makes more sense to have a few really great planets or to spread your bonuses out more.

That said, a high-PQ planet with a bunch of economic starbases can be insanely productive.

No, not the capitals on a bonus tile. What I've seen with the econ and techno capitals is that the bonus only seems to additively stack wtih the marketing/research centers. In other words 2 adv marketing centers + econ capital seems to convey a +15*2+50=80% bonus, instead of a 1.3*1.5 = 95% bonus. That has strategic implications as to how much you specialize a planet.
