+attack% racial seems overpowered

killed 270+ ships and lost 14.

I just got done playing a tough game on a large map. this time around I decided to try the attack%(50%) bonus racial and play as the yor. after the initial land grab i had a very large number of stars and I was putting tremendous presure on the drath who quickly declared war since i had no military. just a short couple of turns later i produced my first medium hull with 4 missile attack. the drath had better logistics and more ships but i was able to kill them all with reative ease since i was doing 150% dmg. after rapidly defeating the drath my influence swelled and eventually i made sweeping moves against the torians and the humans both of them fell in short order as while they had numerical superiority they simply couldnt keep up damage wise. i feel confident i couldnt have killed 270+ships and lost less then 15 if it hadnt been for my extrodinary damage output from nothing more complex then photon torpedos.

on a second side note i had teching set to 'very fast' and the AI didnt seem to handle it very well, aka didnt really reaseach end game techs but even if it had i dont think it would have mattered much since none of them had consolidated into larger forces before i became too large.
edit: oh i just figured it out, i think +attack % (50) is like have almost an extra 50% minaturization for the majority of the hull. so if youve got say 100spot, take 30 for misc items and 70 for weapons its like piling on 105 and you didnt pay for the extra 35.

For every 2 weapon points you get one free.

Pretty good deal..

It's not that the bonus is overpowered, it's that the computer isn't smart enough to know how to counter it.

Proof this is a problem: Link

898 to 25. Could have been much worse if the comp wasn't chain surrendering to me.

but what is the counter? you cant out tech them since each tech is exponentially more expensive but the bonus is linear so even if you get +4-5 techs on them they only have to get 1-2 more or so to catch up. you could attack first but if you dont kill them in 1 shot the problem still persists. if you go the defensive route the tech issue comes back up.

There are a lot of killer setups/tricks in this game.
As soon as you figure a few out, move the difficulty up.
You might find it isn't good enough to win on the higher settings.
I'm playing on obscene now, crippling has become way too easy.
So far, the difficulty setting is powerful enough to stop every trick I have
(so suicidal is still suicide for me), but i'm working on it.

and no playing suicidal on a tiny map either. Personally for me one hasn't won a difficulty level until they've won on the gigantic map with all the AI races. I've read about these suicidal victories on tiny maps with 1 AI..lol, that's not a victory it's an exploit.

personally I find anything bigger then large to be just unmanagable and costly time wise. but the real secret is 1 ai on suicidial > 9 suicidal ai's. the reason is if theres 8 of them fighting each other and not you then its already game over for them and its just a matter of time before you consolidate other peoples empires gain a slight advantage and continously kill the weakest one untill you win.
