Seriously though...

OK...the republic's gone I can handle that (:(

But who holds the strings and how do they get to hold them?

What I mean is, I'm sure there are many like me who are occasional posters who don't take a major part in the empire politics, but just hope to make a small contribution.

Now I feel betrayed by the administrators who chop up the empires willy nilly without any consultation. At the moment I have no real desire to change empires, but I don't want to be a party to those who destroyed the ANZACS.

How were they able to do this? I mean, I was a senator but I was never asked. IT seems as though a few who control the empires are pull the puppet strings without considering those who are loyal members but do not post as often.

Thoughts....

PS I'm particularly peeved as I'm just about to win a large tough game and post it. Its OK for those who post a gigantic maso game every second day, but for those who are still building up their skill level, its really frustrating

THEY DIDN'T DESTROY IT .... The Anzacs Disintigrated over the last 2 weeks to a shadow of its former serlf.. and it was looking like getting worse... so "I" Decided that The ANZACS should go out with dignity.. and not die a slow painfull death... I don't know how many more times i have to say this... I'm feeling very very guilty now... Most ANZACS WEREN'T VERY ACTIVE.. NEVER READ the msg threads or posted games... hell i've been talking about anzacs going down for the 3 or 4 count and didn't get much back from fellow anzacs... "I" did what i thought was right... guess i was wrong...

I respect you a lot, Blue, but it still looks like you let two chronic mercenaries run it all into the ground. The real reasons may well be different. It just looks bad. I just have to ask, which is bigger: the mercenary with the high score or the idea of the team? No one should be bigger than the team.

I guess this is what happens when a 12 year old is at the helm.

It is amazing that everyone is finding it convenient to blame Cotal and myself. Maybe you should take a deep breath and look at your own attitudes. This is a game not a life style. Have some fun and don't get so worked up.

Before yesterday, I was a member of only 3 empires. During my 3 month time playing GALCIV. The Canadian legion, my own which I abandoned and then the Anzacs. There was a couple of days that I checked other empires out. You can call it empire hopping if you want to. I did however spend the majority of the time in the ANZAC Republic.

Personally I find it very funny that Bluesteel destroyed his empire after I left. LOL .

When I was able to play after almost 2 weeks I had found that Cotal/Amidala had changed her name and moved. I had lost my senatorship even though I have been a good contributor.

The real reason I left, I noticed that if I left Anzacs then they would drop a spot in the team rankings and if I joined the Jedi they would be number 1. I just did it for the intrigue. Sure, I changed my name as well to make it more appropriate. I never even thought that I would be the straw that caused Bluesteel to break up the ANZACS. And that is the funniest part of the whole thing! :D LOL LOL LOL :HOT:

LOL... ok.. ok... Yes you were a good contributer.. but you also knew the rules that i had setup to remain in the senete.. play at least 3 games in the last 30 days..

Thats just it.. people simply shift between empires without thinking .. then when the emperor of that empire (who set it up or took over the reigns.. says something about it he gets told that he's taking things too serously.. I don't think that thats fair.. when you join an empire or any form of a team you become a part of that team.. now if you leave that team without any notice then the rest of the team are bound to look at it like a kick in the teeth.. in any team sport the team is only as stable as its members.. good bad or indifferent that they maybe they are all still part of that team.. This wasn't (and still isn't) a finger pointing exercise where i'm saying its anyones fault.. I'm merely stating the fact that I wasn't prepared to go through it all again.. its not you or cotal in particular.. can you please understand that.. I have no anomosity to anyone personally.. I do find it ironic however that when the emperor leaves and closes the empire that ppl think that they are wrong for doing so.. why is it wrong for someone to do it when its ok for others to do it.. I didn't even know it was you who'd left.. I simply saw yet another member had left.. I'm here to enjoy myself too.. and I wasn't enjoying it as much lately.. so I did what everyone else had done.. I left.. I did treat everyone in the empire the same..

OK...I'm a little calmer now, I was worked up because I had spent about a week on what was a tough game, and I was literally 3 turns away from winning...

The thing is, I was an active contributer of scores, but a relatively inactive participant in the politics/intrigue. So people like me didn't see it coming. A brief look back at the ANZAC republic thread also seemed to show (what I thought was) a reasonably happy empire until the very last posts.

To be honest, it would have been nice if there was some sort of empire discussion as to its future, as it seemed all the shots were called by a few, and the revolution process was pretty much invisible to us non-administrators...

Oh well, I'm with the Fellowship now, and intend to remain as loyal here as I was with the ANZACS.
