Wide screens and aspect ratio in videos

So I am using a nice 17" wide screen laptop here. So far so good, but what really annoys me are the videos.
Video stretched to the full size are bad. i don't like their look. Please add an option to keep the aspect ratio when playing a video. Pleeeeaaaseeeee.....

I have to bump this until someone bans me or a red response is here...

We can look into it, some of the screens will look od if we do not stretch the video, all the full screen videos, such as victorys, etc. should not stretch. In most case if something is being stretched it was a hard dission to make, let us know witch screens ar bothering you the most.

I have the same wide screen setup as dersleeper, and I have to agree. Stretched videos don't look very good at all.

The First Anomaly, First Starbase, First Colonization videos are ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I have a 24" Dell FP2405s monitor.... all the Major videos stretch, such as: the intro, anomoly discovery, the colonization, the invasion, the first medium sized hull, and the story ending vids (among others).

something that I haven't figuered out how to zoom in on... is the fleet manager around the planet.... on my large screen.. the tiny box in the bottom right of the panel is practically invisible at 1920x1280 resolution.... really tough to see.

like the others said. it's basically the video. i don't care if the interface is a bit stretched or not, which I think isn't but the video would be nice.
I agree that it MIGHT look strange if their are letter boxes on the sides during the event screens etc. but I prefer letter boxes over stretched images any day...

@Moiiska:
Im running 1920x1280 on 17" and I don't really have that much trouble reading it. maybe you should try a bigger resolution, which would look bad ofcourse because of the fixed pixel numbers.... maybe some font size changes would be great. maybe you can even change those stuff using the desktopX software... I have to check that one soon I guess....

Bottom line: keep aspect ratio option for video playback would be NICE
