Couple graphics issues

My Amazon pre-order just came in today. Great game. However, I know the map can be rotated with the middle mouse button, and that ships in the starport and ship builder windows can be rotated using the mouse. Neither feature seems to work for me. Any ideas?

Also, the map, whether I'm zoomed to strategic or not, shows FoW areas that are not completely in the screen as solid black by sectors. If I move completely over an unexplored sector, it will turn the brownish whatever color it should be, but moving away from it it turns black again.

Dell 2.53 Ghz
512 MB RAM
Bought computer in December 05, using Intel graphics card that came with it

Also, just checked, graphics driver is updated, and is dated 9/20/05.

Bump.... anyone else got any ideas? Has anyone run into this before? It's kind of annoying not being able to see what's explored or not unless it's in the center of the screen
