Techtree and how to handle it

I have tried to find out how i can get diferent things by research. Like medium ships, Transport, improvement x and so on.

At times i get a new tech and get a message like this: Transport. 1 more technology is needed.
So how do i find out what other technology is needed? Or for the harder techs that says that 7 other techs is needed.
It would be great if you could set up what you whant to get then the tech treen line up on the research path needed.

When you click on a tech to research and it shows ships that require other additional techs, it tells you right underneath the ship type what additional tech(s) you need.

Yep , this is the biggest problem with tech tree and one of the major in entire game.

Yeah, but if you don't know the pre-requisites for one of the required techs, you're out of luck.
Hence the value of the fold-out tech tree that comes w/ the collector's edition!

Tech prerequisites shouldn't be too much of a problem. The whole tech tree is in the window at the bottom of the screen. I don't think the list of required techs is under each ship unless you've downloaded Friday's patch.

Download the newest patch from the Download page or SDC. The new tech tree lists all the other required techs for a ship to be unlocked.

If this patch works it will reduce mutch of the pain
Still would love to be able to click on trade to get the game to research all needed techs to get it.
Also would be great to easy find out how to get medium ships..

IMHO, the list of tech required should not be shown in research screen for each ship (very cumbersome). It should be in ship making screen,/ seperate tab where you can list all your ships stlyes that are not available yet and the tech needed for each one)

For a transport you need Planetary Invasion, for a freighter you need Trade, for the rest... just make your own.
