Even a Pokemon reference? LOL!

I thought this was funny, wish I coulda just uploaded the screenie.

Earth - 2247
Throughout the Terran Alliance Empire, a cruel game has been taken up by citizens young and old. By using capture spheres, players will search for wildlife, which they will imprison with the globes. The creatures are then trained, and when their trainers feel they are ready, the animals are pitted against each other to the death. Even with activist groups protesting against it, the games popularity seems to grow daily.

The evil response says...
Why should I care about the well-being of a bunch of stinky beasts? Besides, I've already caught 80 out of 128 wildlife creatures! (+5 Morale bonus)

I also caught a funny Star Trek reference about the Genesis device, even gave credit to Doctor Carol Marcus!

You guys are the best / coolest / funniest developers on the planet earth!

The Pokemon thing made me laugh, out loud, for two solid minutes.

My roommates think I am INSANE now, thanks a lot, SD!

I prefer the FFVI referance in the names of the starting planets in the Seige mission of the campaign (for me, at least). Locke, Sabin, and Celes! It was almost the most satisfying moment I've had playing this game so far.

I agree, it's great to see a game with humor. Probably the funniest game I have played since the new Bards Tale.

Yea , the humor in GalCiv is great , one small problem however - nohing new , it all taken from GalCiv1.

Yeah, it was funny 2 years ago. I was disappointed that all the random events and choices seem to be taken from the first GalCiv

Sorry to necropost, but why is that event so important to the game? If you choose to ban it, your approval rate drops to 0. If you allow it when it comes up again, your approval rate jumps to 80. Why is one trivial event so make-or-break?

Have any of you come across Hoth yet? I got a good chuckle out of that when I colonized a PQ 4 ice planet called Hoth.

Not to mention the whole Snathi thing. Someone over at Stardock really really doesn't like squirells I think.

I saw the picture of a two-headed squirrel for the Pokemon event and decided that something must be done. These abominations must not be allowed to run free!
