Galactic Guide Book

no free Survey mods

Im not sure what has happened but I built the Galactic Guide book Trade good that is supposed to make all Survey Moduels 0 Cost so I can put them on all my ships, but when I go to design a ship and put it on one of them it still costs me 10 space.

Is this a bug or is something else going On that I dont know about?

The survey modules are changed to zero cost not size. The description of the guide book is a bit misleading, to be sure.

I was in the same boat PsiSoldier...I kept thinking they should be reduced to size zero as well. When that didn't happen, I read the text really carefully and as curttasker points out, it is misleading.

"Reduces the cost of the Survey Module to zero, allowing you to equip any ship to explore anomalies."

The first half clearly states that it is the cost that goes to zero, however, the second half is then what we've interpreted to mean that the size is what has been reduced since ships components aren't physically limited by cost, but by size.

I'd prefer our interpretation, of course, but we'll need to wait and see what Stardock's take on the thing is.

I was wondering about that too as I built my first planetary improvement of this.

But to be serious... this should be re-tweaked... Even if the cost is 0 bc, why the hell should I waste 9 size for a "free cost" survey module when I only have 38 size left in total on my ship???

Every single atk/def point is much more usefull.

IIRC, survey modules double as sensors. In effect, you would obtain no-cost sensors.
