The game here is slated for release on March 12 here in Australia. There is also no Collectors edition here according to EB, just the single version

Will those of us who buy the game get access to the free Bonus Pack via Stardock Central etc.... in the same way as the downloaders have? How do we get that? Via the site or via Stardock or via upgrading our game to 1.0D?

You'll be able to upgrade to v1.0D (which is the Bonus Pack) via SDC or by downloading the standalone patch off this site. The Collector's Edition goodies can be had by entering your serial number at: https://www.galciv2.com/collectorsedition/
