Had a bit of a problem . . .

Long story short, game crashed, Yor race settings all kinds of messed up.

Is there anyway at all to reset them to their orginal values? (race abilities, ship type and color etc etc)

I think if you go into /my documents/my games/galciv2 folder and delete the preferences file (prefs.ini?), it will reset everything to the state it was when you first installed the game. It might be in a subfolder, poke around.
If you understood the above, try playing around with that. (if you didn't you're better off not messing with it )

Someone please feel free to correct me.

*drops to knees and worships Burianek*

I've been using XP for years, but my first thought is always to go to the program files, I NEVER remember to check my documents

As soon as I get off work I'm going to do that and with any luck I'll be rule the universe with Yor again in no time

(Btw I love your trade script for X3, wouldn't dare run a wheat farm or complex without it )

heh, wait and make sure it works before you start to worship
there is a galciv folder in /my games though, and there is a prefs file in it somewhere.
not exactly sure what happens if you delete it, but the worst is that you'd get all your settings reset.
if you wanted to get really clever, i'm sure you could open it in notepad and find the section where you botched up the yor and just remove that section.
They really do need a 'reset races to default button' on the race setup screen.
good luck

My worship was well founded. In the GalCiv 2 folder under My Games it keeps save games and custom race info. Since I didn't create a custom race I deleted that file and bingo, back to default.
