Ship builder

Wow

I'm wondering if I'll ever actually get back to playing the game!

This has to be one of the coolest new features I've ever seen added to a v2.

Wow. Just wow.

This is perfect for those of us that yearn to mod, but are either too novice/too impatient to learn the code and/or spend the hours a good mod takes. I've already built alternate colony ships (more speed/range, low cargo space) and constructors (ditto) for those made dashes to far flung planets and resources, and beyond the look and feel you can add in your descriptions.

My FF-Schooner:
Like the prairie schooners of old, perfect those mad dashes to far flung (and free!) homesteads. Sacrificing all but basic life support for turbo charged hyperdrive, it can get there quick -- but "there" better no be in hostile territory!

I almost feel like saying, Suckers! I would have PAID for this option in an expansion pack

I'm so glad you guys are finally getting to use that tool...the ship building blew me away (as a gamer) when the programmers got it working. Cant wait to see everyones creations!

One thing; I cannot resize anything in shipbuilder. Very odd. Otherwise no problems at all with the whole game.

I never understood why some developers always seemed to trend towards less of even the minor customization features --- I mean, even Civ III took away your ability to name your own cities, IIRC.

I love this bucking of that trend!

This is what makes for true replayability.... plus -- the real geeks among us are really going to enjoy creating our Battlestar class ships, along side our Firefly class freighters, together with our Galaxy class starships. -- and maybe the odd Daedelus or Prometheus thrown in. Heck, maybe even the odd 'Cygnus', complete with powerful sensors to explore those black holes!
Anyone that can name where each of those came from knows EXACTLY how much fun we're talkin' here.

Yeah I love it too...but man it sucks soooooooo much time

Almost a complaint about how much time it takes to design a ship...it's that much fun.

Some of the hulls are 90% hardpoints...but as difficult as it is to finalize a design it is still fun.
